I really don't support a playoff system in college football but...

Why isn't Alabama playing Texas?

Why isn't Ohio State playing Virginia Tech?

Why isn't Utah playing Cincinnati?

In short, bowl tie-ins for conference champs and selection order.

Bama/TX- not playing because Bama doesnt want another loss. At least with Utah if they lose it wont be by as much.

OSU-VT- OSU doesnt want to take a chance either

UTAH/Cincy- Cincy would beat Utah.

Bama/Texas would have been great.

If Oregon State would have just won the damn Civil War game, we might be looking at:

Rose - Oregon State vs. Penn State
Fiesta - Utah vs. Cincinnati
Sugar - USC vs. Alabama*
Orange - VA Tech vs. Texas
BCS - Oklahoma vs. Florida

Oh I'd much rather that than versus Ohio State but there was no way the Fiesta was letting Texas pass them by.

......and there is no way the Sugar was going to let Bama get past them. Texas vs. Bama was never going to happen.

tOSU would not be afraid of taking a chance against VaTech.

Hell, I'd feel a lot better about ending our two year skid in the BCS.

My point exactly...

You could still be disapointed...

So far, no one disagrees...

If there were NO rules to however many teams could be in the BCS and certain conferences didn't have a lock-in to the BCS:

Rose - USC vs. Penn State
Fiesta - Texas Tech vs. Boise State
Sugar - Texas vs. Alabama
Orange - Georgia Tech vs. Ole Miss
BCS - Florida vs. Oklahoma

In my opinion, those were the 10 best teams in college football this year. Oregon State lost the last week of the season, so I cannot put them in, as I wanted to. Even though GT did not win their conference, they're clearly the most dominant, fun to watch team in their conference. Utah...sorry...Boise State is a better draw and a better team.

Two problems...

Too many conferences with less than 12 teams...

And...

Orange - Georgia Tech vs. Ole Miss

FWIW, Fiesta would've had first crack to replace Oklahoma and would've taken USC immediately had Oregon State been the Pac 10 Champ in the Rose Bowl. Then the Sugar would've still taken Alabama with Texas falling to the Fiesta next.

Ole Miss '08 = LSU '01.

I promise you that Ole Miss would give just about anyone in the country a game right now. Those of you who think it's ludicrous to call them one of the ten best teams need to check your thinking...not mine. And Ohio State fan, you have zero room to talk about any team in teh SEC, considering your tremendous record vs. the conference.
