Gotta read the transcript or hear the call, the stock will probably over react if they get any hint of bad new i.e lower margins or supply chain issues. Depending on what they said I would then make my decision.

Qualcomm said last week there were problems with manufacturing capacity producing chips. This provides 2 potential pieces of insight.
A. Demand is so high they can't keep up
B. There are legit supply chain disruptions

I swear I am not going to look at any media tomorrow or stock quotes and then read the transcript, decide for myself without seeing with the stock price does. Then make a decision independent of whatever the stock price does bc it's a long term play still at cheap prices

When you say long term, what do you mean? 1 year? 5 years?

I'm thinking of buying a few shares and then selling within the next 18 months. WIth the coming release of the iPhone 5, redesigned macbooks and iMacs, rumored smaller iPad, and rumored flat screen panel TV I could see the short term for AAPL being astronomical. As has been stated many times here and elsewhere, it would be impossible for AAPL to see the kind of growth they are seing now in the long run, so that's why I'm thinking of buying now and selling around this time next year. Is this a retarded strategy iyo?

I could be wrong but I thought Qualcomm said there was weakness in demand

I could see all of these being catalyst for Apple's further growth. I don't think holding the stock for 12-18 is a bad idea at all. I would maybe buy a small position ahead of earnings. Small.

Also, you list good reasons for buying the stock, if it runs up I wouldn't sell it till those reasons you bought it no longer exists, you need the $$, or you want to protect big gains. But generally speaking you need a good reason to sell or buy.

Stupidly or not, I added to my position today. 1 share but still...

If they miss their earnings, 500 is around the corner. About 10-15% drop is par for the course for tech stocks when they miss.

If they miss slightly (a few percent) would you say aapl is a auto-buy given the products they have coming out in the next 12 months?

no way, i was being sarcastic. They would have to have a total flop in a product for them to truly fall. So even if earnings disapoint this time, it's just a blip until their next release. Last quarter was epic and you can assume that if that is the norm for a product release then staying in the 500 - 600 range is pretty safe.

That's what I'm thinking, but I'll be the first to admit that I am completely green when it comes to this. Just trying to get a better grasp of the logic and reasoning behind the market.

C, I pussed out and sold a couple hundred shares at 340 a few months back on one of these corrections. I have to tell you: If you buy this stock, get ready for weeks like this last one. It is gut wrenching. Oh, and dont pay attention to the price so much as the percent increase/decrease.

Still long 500 shares......good luck to everyone.
