Thoughts on 'ShipStation' as a shipping portal?

Wondering if anyone on here has experience with a consolidated shipping portal like ShopStation.

Currently using the standard FX (Ship manager), and UPS portal.

Worth the time, and real benifits? Any hidden or unknown issues or annoyances?

Would be nice to be able to hook up the different, accounts and be able to choose quicker which is cheaper.

If we go this route do you stop working with your FX/UPS Acct Rep, if something is needed? I guess I’m wondering if it’s still our Acct# still being used.

Not sure what else to ask, so thanks for any other info.

You can ship through your UPS account with your negotiated rates or you can ship UPS through ShipStation with their negotiated rates. I’m unsure if your UPS rep can do anything about the shipments through ShipStation.

ShipStation is pretty intuitive and easy to use, but sometimes getting the information I needed via reporting was clunky.

I will say if you are a 3PL, I know they were working on their 3PL capabilities, but billing clients was a pain and it really struggled as a 3PL solution.

I don’t really recall on the inventory parts of it, but I think that was also a bit of a pain, but it may very well have been a poor configuration on our end.

Thanks. We definitely don't want to turn over our rates/direct access to FX/UPS to another company.

Not a 3PL, so not needed there. Small e-commerce but trying to grow. We are at the next stage where we are trying to figure out systems we can integrate together to make all work well. But not where we can invest in a total custom build. Things like having our own site, but maybe throw it on an eBay/Amazon/etc if we need to move inventory. But that may all be different than ShipStation

Sounds like you are no longer using it, changed jobs or your company changed to something else?

Would this thread be better moved to the tech board or another? Could a MOD do that?

I considered using Shipstation but a large portion of our order are multiple packages for one order which didn't seem compatible with Shipstation

we primarily ship ups but for international use fedex usps or freight companies.

We are moving to Shopify and planning on integrating a third party app Intuitive Shipping to help

Interesting note. I'm assuming y'all are more at the distribution level. We have a few orders like this, when we have bigger full sets boxed separately from our vendors, and just turn around and ship them out. So thinking SSs isn't going to be bad in small amounts.

We are just domestic using FX/UPS Express or ground. USPS for just PO Box orders. Don't need freight companies, yet. Maybe one day, but not for a bit probably. Throw a system set for us to grow into is also plus.

We are heavily looking at moving over to Shopify too. Have y'all found Intuitive Shipping to work better with Shopify? Think it covers the same needs I'm trying to find here with SS, but integrates better with Shopify?

I've also been researching a program called Hyperspace, a thing else like it would be good to know too, which we are told connects with Shopify well to manage multi site orders. Ie...we have customers that come in and make purchase on site after consultation, we have online orders, and we are starting to throw on things that may be getting outdated to eBay too. We want it all to connect, remove inventory from all systems if sold on one side. Repost into inventory things that are returned, etc. If that makes sense.

Oh another potential rev stream we are looking into is rental equipment, so having that bring able to connect, once we get there, to our site would be a positive too.

I left that job at the end of last year and the new job doesn’t have anything in that industry.
