are you CPA-eligible? Have you completed the necessary course work and gotten approval from the board?

That's why I'm no longer doing it. The only way to get rich is working your arse off and I like my free time way too much for that.

Private industry in Houston 40-45k straight out of school I'd guess on average.

Big 4 were paying 40-45k 7 years ago in Houston when I was coming out. Not sure entry level pay these days in audit.

Yes, I have the 150 hr. requirement completed. I just have to get the study material schedule to take the exam.

I assume the board has approved you. I trust you're taking Becker? That fricker has a serious price tag!

Yes, the board has approved me. I plan to use Becker...I know of 2 people that passed everything 1st try. These aren't the brightest two people either.

Yes, it is too damn much! I'm hoping to get employer to pick it up.

40-45 is more nola area, Houston its more like 50-53 for entry level audit/tax. Industry is unpredictable because "accounting" can mean a whole giant bag of different things.

I work for a major oil company and we would pay you in the 60-70k range at most.

For us, it has zero to do with what you do and what you contribute but has everything to do with your lack of experience. No substantial raises until at least 3 years of experience and a proven track record.

This thread is making me laugh at all the snotty accounting students who called finance students acocunting fail outs.

FTR: I think an accounting degree is just as good as a finance degree and I'm not judging anyone for salary. I'm just venting years of snobbery that I had to put up with.
