Doesn't the future of LINK hinge on whether industry wants to use smart contracts on the ethereum platform? If so, are any currently using oracles to integrate?

Link is middleware and can set up adaptors so its technically blockchain agnostic. Btc, iota, eth, hyperledger can all use link nodes for decentralized oracles
