Credit Question

I have two credit cards that have a zero balance. I keep them for emergency purposes. I know revolving credit has an impact on my credit score. So if I just keep them and never use them how does that work? Does it help or hurt or nothing to my credit?

A positive impact, if you are always current on your payments and don't use too much of it. You can't build a good credit history without using credit, something that many overlook.
Using large portions of your available credit will ding you some, but not necessarily a lot. It's like being in the "danger zone" - increased risk but still keeping up with things. Not the end of the world, and assuming you right the ship it'll be fine.
You don't really get into trouble until you start skipping payments - not just a day or two late but 30 days or more late. At that point your score will start to fall off a cliff.
But just having revolving credit, using it a little and always paying it off, that is actually a plus because it shows you can handle it.

Credit is very funny. If you have them, but aren't using them at all, your score will drop. Also, lets say your limit is 1000 and you spend 200. If you pay 100 instead of your minimum, and then spend 101, your score will drop. Now when I say drop, I do not mean by a bunch.

In the long run, leaving it open will help.
The short term stuff only matters if you are about to apply for a loan.
