Does Chase allow me to refer myself? I'm within 50K of getting the SW Companion pass, and even though it's late in the year I figure it's worth it to take the opportunity and use it for a heavy travel year next year. If not I'll find someone to give the referral points to.

Planning my trip and confirmed Ziva Cancun through Hyatt free nights are accommodations and all inclusive up to 4 peeps. Makes this A VERY slick deal.
What city/ state are you located if you don't mind me asking?

UA transfers to Korean.
My Chase UR would have to be converted to UA first then Korean? And I would search availability on UA or KA? I was just looking on KA site for award flights and there's nothing that ever comes up when I search HNL to SFO or LAX. MSY isn't even an option from HNL.
And thank for saying the RT part, I was checking only 1 way at first.

I did round trip for two MSY to OGG for 50k UR pts. Searched through delta ( which would have been 120k delta pts) then transferred pts directly to Koreanair.

I am Hilton diamond and Spg platinum - can I leverage those to get the discounted time share weeks? Specifically around peak times (e.g. Christmas)
I know a few people in TS and a couple things I would say; I don't know how easy it is to get Christmas time with one of their packages. They offer you a studio/hotel room not a full condo in many cases. You can possibly upgrade but then you're paying for it. Second, why waste your and other's time or for a discount on your lodging? If you're platinum and Diamond you should have enough points to stay and not go in a pressure sales room for 2 hours.

Ahh, wow thanks
So I should just be searching Delta or search United as well? And how do I know if you can get it for the Korean rates?

I thought it was very reasonable for 2 hours of my time, even with the upcharge.
I don't understand how people think it's worth their time to be sold at for 2 hours in pressure sales, lose those 2 hours of vacation, which time is money, completely wasting a person's time whose job is 100% commission and they actually have lives and families, all for a discount on their lodging? If you're not going to buy ever, why would you go? I hate to be sold at, but on top of that to have to sit there for 2 hours to save a couple hundred dollars?? My time is worth more than that and I would feel terribly guilty wasting everyone's time.

Wouldn't there be tax implications on you "paying rent" to your wife since that would be treated as taxable rental income?
My first thought as well. But it's only about $15k, so it's under the federal reporting limit for electronic sent payments for a year.

I just did 2 searches on Delta and UA for HNL to MSY and these are their results.
How would I know if I can use on Korean for 25k RT? TIA to any help from the board

You're set up perfectly with 2 ink and OBC. Wish SO had Ink too to get the extra 50K limit.
We've got the best cards to sit on the sidelines with. Imagine being able to double tag Chase again and then be able to go through the gauntlet of all the other cards when done. We won't be burning miles like we used to and still have 200k UR pounts, 160k AA miles, 50K SPG, 30k hyatt, 60k TYP, 20k MR. Stacking that with a fresh round of chase apps and no major vacations in site will be fun. Just a sad though to not be travelling the world for free for a couple years. Kids under 5 just aren't the coolest traveling companions

But it is so hard right now to stop when AA and AS miles are so easy to come by on a routine.
No doubt. But we killed AA and AS for 2 years so we were close to needing a reset on them as well.

Not bad at all. I have been contemplating doing so myself. Sit on the sidelines for 2 years and basically reset every clock. In the meantime I could hit my Ink/SPG or get DiscoverIt miles to hit hard for a year.
Yep. It was a tough decision to do for me, but easy for me to make for my wife since she was damn close since I shut her new apps down to prepare us for home buying. I kept going

Korean/ Delta conversion: They are transfering partners so Anything under 60k delta = 25 korean pts.
You are over the limit.
You are over the limit.

No, you can't refer yourself. Plus, you can only refer someone to a card that you have. So you will be excluded from getting the bonus anyway. I would 100% get the CP even though it is late in the year. Better have it for 1.25 years than not at all. Here is an offer for the 50K SW Plus:
SW Plus ($69 fee)

Ok - so you are using Chase UR to book through Korean. So you will need to transfer Chase UR to Korean Skypass directly. Korean is a SkyTeam partner, so you need to search award flights on Delta metal on Flying Blue website. It is a little confusing to search on Delta's website because they have different levels of awards. I never get it. I just use flying blue's website.
So in essence:
Points: Chase UR
Program: Korean Skypass
Metal: Delta
Search engine: Flying blue
Korean has an awesome hold policy, so I would have my award held first and then make the transfer.

If you book early enough, anything is possible.

That isn't true at all. Completely depends on your usage. I have a little over 0.5M, and that is 1 5 night stay at a top tier. After that I am points broke but have diamond forever pretty much.

I don't understand how people think it's worth their time to be sold at for 2 hours in pressure sales, lose those 2 hours of vacation, which time is money
I think it is completely worth 2 hours of my time. Take an extreme example: If I took the Hawaii option for 6 nights for $600, that is a vacation I would take only because of this offer. Since I can use the Hilton rebate anytime for work travel, the stay essentially cost me $400. This is a vacation I would not take otherwise. So there would be no vacation time to waste in the first place.
On the other hand, my 2 night stay in a suite in Elara was $350 a night for the weekend we are going to. I am actually coming out $40 ahead in this. 2 hours of my time is definitely worth $750.

Honestly, I don't care about this, like at all. Its their job. They pitched an offer, I took it. Why should I feel bad? I actually talked to one of the TS people one time and they said 19/20 people don't buy. And they know this. But its all a numbers game, so they just want 20 footfalls hoping the law of averages would play out in their favor.

Although, most of the times you are saving over $200, even at $200, it is worth my time. You might make $100/hr. I don't

I'm torn. My wife has zero desire to do it with me and won't do it with a smile if at all. But, I'm cheap at heart, and I would've done it in the past, but with limited travel time these days, that ship mightve sailed.

100% respect that and I'd make it clear they're wasting their time on me and to process me, but most are trained not to waste a heartbeat in the door.

They are giving it to people who at least will give them a chance to sell their properties. I don't know it's just something I would never do if I have no interest in buying. I don't know what type of work you do, but I'm sure you don't like people wasting your time either. And keep in mind, you may "not care at all" about the guy who is trying to support his family but they do actually get fired if they don't sell.

Hyatt doesn't give you diamond for CC spend
Maybe I should've worded it different. In the past I've achieved diamond for Hilton with cc spend and Hyatt has offered credit for cc spend for a faster diamond route. Ive also leveraged other top tier hotel status earned through cc spend for Hyatt diamond match. For me, it all comes from cc spend.

I don't mean to come off as throwing money away is all good, I'm a bargain shopper too. I just don't get the voluntarily signing up for pressure sales and wasting mine and their time for $200-$500. I really don't like being sold to so maybe that's a big part of it. But I really don't want to spend 2 hours in a room with strangers either

Well they have no choice, if you walk in the door because some marketer gave the farm to you for coming in, the sales guy has to take you and you count against their cap. Enough AmeriKop's/Afro's walk in the door for that person in a month and they don't have a job anymore.

Respect that line of thought and understand Amerikops thought as well. My wife took that thought capability out of my hands, so weve never done it.
I've also had these guys sell Ts to family members based on lies, so the empathy only runs so deep.
