Been having a Hilton Honors Visa card for years through Citi. Last month I received a letter tellling me that my Citi Visa will switch over to Citi American Express at the end of January. WTF? I've never heard of something like this. I already have a Hilton Honors AmEx and don't need another. I keep a Visa, an AmEx, and a debit card in my wallet. I'll just end up cancelling the Citi account and will get another Visa card elsewhere. Anyone else ever encountered this type of change?

Hilton dropped Citi as a partner and Citi sold its book to AmEx. Nothing crazy.

Ya really what you should have done is get the Amex bonus before they switch you over and you aren't eligible anymore.

Yeah they are changing one of my cards from a visa to a MasterCard sometime in April. I called to see if they would convert it to one of their other cards that still had a visa branding (wanted to use this card at Costco), instead, but they said no because it was already in process of conversion and may take up to a year for it to complete...alright. but offered to have me apply for the card that I wanted them to convert to. ...yeah right.

I told them that I guess I won't be using their card anytime soon.

What I don't like about the Hilton AmEx card is that you have to pay foreign transaction fees outside the US. When I go, I use my BOA Cash Rewards Visa card. Zero foreign transaction fees.
