PMG has a fairly well developed Risk and Compliance and IT practice though. The strategy side is where Deloitte is a clear winner right now. EY and KPMG are growing substantially, however. Five years from now their Advisory practices will be greatly improved. It is very difficult to acquire resources in the correct areas to begin a practice; however, once the growth opportunities are available, the practice will be able to sell a different opportunity for career growth than the established consultancies.
Also to keep in mind that Advisory is a broad term. Some Big 4's do Credit Risk better, some do Internal Audit better, so do Structured Finance Better etc.

Truth be told Big 4 is big 4 is big 4. You're career won't be hurt if you choose KPMG over Deloitte or EY over PWC or Deloitte over PWC etc. In the end it doesn't matter much as far as job options in the future.

No doubt. It is ridiculous the number of things that fall under Advisory. Most of the B4 have 50+ specialties in Advisory/Consulting. It is impossible to know all of the different types of things that a B4 company can do...there is literally someone in the organization that has done it.

The only place that might not be true is Deloitte S&O if the consultant wants to make a move to MBB. Otherwise, the career prospects are the same from all of the B4. Completely agree.

I plan on staying for a long time though--I really love what I do. Nonetheless, I will be interested in the recruiters and job offers that float my way from the B4 name.

I agree with this. I sometimes think of Deloitte's S&O as another company all on their own.

Very true. The service line I belong to technically isn't even it's own service line. It's a "sub" service line of a sub service line.

BTW what type of Advisory do you do?

Basically is. That is where the Deloitte prestige comes from on the consulting side. Otherwise, Green Dot would have no huge differentiation over the other 3 firms (other than being a lot bigger) for previous aforementioned reasons.

Are there any current events going on that I can use to impress the EY panel?

Don't pull that crap. Every fricken recruit does that all the time. It's way obvious. Just be yourself and don't say anything stupid. Brownie points are never won for pandering.
Big 4 is all about hiring people they can see themselves being stuck in a small room for several months for 12+ hours a day 5-7 days a week.

Yup, ESPECIALLY on the audit side.
On the consulting side, you better be able to talk to clients even better than the auditors can -- because your consulting work is purely optional and not required by law.

I'm pretty excited for next Thursday and Friday.
ETA: Any word of advice y'all want to offer to a young fella, besides the be yourself deal.

It is actually really good to not talk about accounting much of the time. They are surrounded by it -- talk about sports or family or where they went to school or some other random thing you have in common.

Yeah, that is what I have heard. I'm shitting. ha

That and in the consulting/advisory areas you are generally dealing with more senior people from the client. Audit you typically are dealing with one or two contacts in the accounting group at the client who often times is someone mid level and sometimes even Jr level.

Deloitte with $28.8bn in revenues for FY 2011. Impressive growth.
Interesting to see how the other B4 firms after Deloitte saw ~8.5% growth this year.
