This past Monday the story about AstraZeneca halting its COVID19 trial sent the Dow Jones average down over 600 points.
It was the lead story on almost every news website and even one of the top stories on Baton Rouge TV stations news broadcasts.
Yesterday AstraZeneca announced it was restarting the trial in the UK after their analysis showed it is safe to do so.
This good news is doesn't make the title page in any of the online news sites I bookmark.

LONDON — Oxford University announced Saturday it was resuming a trial for a coronavirus vaccine it is developing with pharmaceutical company AstraZeneca, a move that comes days after the study was suspended following a reported side-effect in a U.K. patient.
In a statement, the university confirmed the restart across all of its U.K. clinical trial sites after regulators gave the go-ahead following the pause on Sunday.
“The independent review process has concluded and following the recommendations of both the independent safety review committee and the U.K. regulator, the MHRA, the trials will recommence in the U.K.,” it said.
The vaccine being developed by Oxford and AstraZeneca is widely perceived to be one of the strongest contenders among the dozens of coronavirus vaccines in various stages of testing around the world.
British Health Secretary Matt Hancock welcomed the restart, saying in a tweet that it was “good news for everyone” that the trial is “back up and running.”

Good news is bad for the fear porn industry.

This is good news, as I think the Astrazeneca vaccine is easily one of the better contenders. Moderna's track record doesn't exactly inspire confidence.
The stock market's lack of basic literacy about scientific studies is pretty hilarious to witness, though.

Seem to recall the reported “side effect” occurred in the placebo group. Abundance of caution.

When 30,000 people are being tested, no doubt someone is going to get sick for one or another reason that may or may not be due to the vaccine. Just a matter of odds.

Good observation. No surprise that "bad" news gets amplified and good news or news which discredits the bad news gets swept under the rug.
While I think picking the winner in the vaccine race is essentially throwing darts AZN should be a good bet with little downside on coming up with a safe and effective vaccine.
