Thats a solid arse IRA at that age.
What field is she in? Seems odd she wouldn't get a 401k at her new job if she had that good of a setup before.

The total market index fund is about as diversified as funds get. I think there is a more than reasonable chance equities will be going on sale within the next week or so. I normally wouldn't recommend market timing for a 28 year old, perhaps buying in increments spread out over the next four weeks is the way to go.
