I hope and pray for AJ to do very well but people vastly underestimate the talents of the Mettsiah. Next year will be a definite step back in the passing game.

Nah. The main difference will be that Jennings will spread the ball around. Mett has looked completely different anytime one of his two targets became injured. Ole Miss read it well and he looked completely different the second half of the year. Also, when the pass rush gets too bad (r the line just gives up like they have often), He'll be abl to run around long enough to find somebody open.

What we lose in arm strength and experience, we gain in versatility and pocket presence. Also, he has a quick release and touch like Jarrett Lee. I think we'll move up and down the field once he gets into a groove. What will be the key is, can he not make mistakes of the turnover variety?

ETA: People that think we are going to take a step back in offense, can't be more wrong. This offense will be better than 2007's. If we can match up on defense (or at least 2012 standard) Lookout!

AJ was in HS and likely is Now a RUN First Guy...how may Marietta games did you see ?

The supporting cast needs to step up and quick.

I think its a non subject. AJ's wheels are a big plus obviously. But even as strong as metts arm is, I don't think they are giving up anything with AJ. Sure mett has a stronger arm, but I don't think its a difference maker in what plays are called

Wow way off.....Mett makes throws that not many can make. AJ will never fit the ball into tight spaces like Mett. He will never throw the off hash out pattern like Mett. This O will eventually look a lot more like Oregon than LSU 2013. Im not sure thats a great thing.....

I'm leaning this way, too. We should be able to do a lot of things very well offensively. Power running is a constant. There's talent on the outside. Tight ends should be improved. AJ can move around. Cameron will be in this second year at the helm. I can't wait to see what we roll out in '14.

if Jennings can make all the throws that Zach could make, we are going to have a very, very special QB. There aren't many guys on college rosters that can make every NFL throw like Zach can.

Jennings arm will clearly determine what pass plays are called. And I would imagine that there are some throws that Zach made look easy that Jennings won't be able to make.

Well the QB guru expert, Cameron, stated unequivocally that Jennings could make every throw that Mett could and "adds a little something more" to the equation. I will take his word over the "experts" here.

Can someone with the skills link that video quote from Cameron on Jennings' passing ability to refute those who would diminish it?

How he didn't win every game that year still blows my mind...especially to Tenn. and the throwaway Clausen...WTF

You are not seriously blaming JR are you? He was the reason LSU lost those games?

that dude just mixed a couple rosters together, he doesn't know what he's talking about. I wouldn't worry about it.

Mett has the stronger arm, no doubt. Not many QBs can throw that 17 yard out from the far hash on a rope like he can. But Mett trusted his arm too much at times, and made some late decisions because of it. If Jeenings can get the ball out on time, we won't see too much drop off.

I don't get why people immediately think this. Just because AJ isn't a traditional passer doesn't mean he won't be able to sling it.

AJ is pass first. Watch some film and don't jump to conclusions. He CAN run. That doesn't mean he can't pass...

because we're replacing a 5th year senior who was by all accounts the 2nd best QB we've ever had at LSU, with a true sophomore who we've seen play 1 drive. Because we are losing two 1,000 yard WRs, when we've had a very small handful during Miles' entire tenure. Oh, and we're also gonna lose that 1,000 yard rusher that took pressure off of the passing game.

If we don't see a drop off in the passing game, Jennings is gonna win multiple NCs at LSU. He might, but I'm not ready to anoint him after one drive against a team with 9 straight losses and zero conference wins.

Arm strength is way over rated in my opinion.

Arm strength is not overrated. It's the reason why Zach can throw into the smallest windows and triple coverage and still get the completion.
