or...

JJ's call to 911 while on the field:

911: 911, what's your emergency?

JJ: Uh...hi, I got a situation here where I just got put into the game and the time is running out. I'd like to run another play but my coaches just sent about 14 receivers onto the field and I don't see a play call anywhere. I just need some help here - I don't know what to do.

911: Okay, try and remain calm. How much time do you have left?

JJ: 9, 8, 7...

911: Motherf--ker! What's your location?

JJ: Tiger Stadium

911: Oh, LSU?! Oh wait, that's Les Miles and Gary Crowton, right? You're f--ked. Good Luck.

End of call

Irony.

The whole thing was a f'ck up from the beginning. It's JJ's job to make do with what he is given. There were late substitutions, everything in the final seconds can be blamed on him. Prior, can be blamed on the staff.

Why did LSU's coaching staff not call at least two plays when they sent JJ into the game?

Do you have an answer for that? Or is that JJ's fault too?

JJ was set up to fail by the coaches--as was Andrew Hatch, as was/is Jarrett Lee...over and over again.

Has nothing to do with the play at hand.

Sean payton doesn't have JJ trying to run a 2 minute drill. As a D-1 QB, it's common sense that should take over. Hey the clock is running, I need to stop it! Let spike it then set up a play with the right it's on the field.

That never crossed jeffersons mind

Problem is JJ nor Lee are D1 caliber Quarterbacks

J lee's freshman stats rivaled a certain stafford guy from georgia..i think he MAY qualify as D1 caliber. We just havent seen him play cuz miles has a bromance with JJ

JJ had an easy path to the end zone, but ran straight into the defenders. It also appears that JJ had a play and time to get one off before time ran out. I don't think anyone can prove having one called before would have led to any less disasterous results. There would most likely have been substitutions even then.

my conspiracy theory is this...team had driven the ball down the field with Lee and had it 2nd and goal from the 2. The hurry up offense had clicked pretty well to this point...then Les interjects himself into the equation and calls for JJ to go in and run the option. Crowton says "frick it", tells Miles good luck, then throws down his head set. (hence the "I don't have anyone to talk to" comment). JJ doesn't score, looks to the sidelines and nothing is ready, chaos ensues...

Easy paths don't generally go through MLB Nick Reveiz who was unblocked by Josh Williford.

2 seconds left and JJ was not even ready for the ball when it came.

What does it say about Lee that he can't beat out JJ? Lee is not D1 caliber

Wrong. JJ had a hole, hit the hole and turned up the field. If he had gone right, the whole side of the field was open. The defender he ran into had absolutely no one to his left, which was JJ's right.

Lee still has some bad habits, but if they can be fixed is definitely capable. Had he received playing time this year, possibly these flaws would be less of a problem.

Well, except that Peterson was blocking his man to the outside. That man maintained containment. Jefferson can't bounce outside of the man.

When he got through the hole, the whole right side of the field was open.
