Reality is we need a true DC and then 3 position coaches. We have 2 DCs and 1 position coach (where all they do is coach a position).

I'm on board with this.

I wonder who realistically will be available after the season.

He gets a pass this year because of Perillioux and the co DC thing. But if he doesn't hire a DC after this year and do something about the fact that JL is horrible my trust in Les will be in freefall.

And in spite of what it did to us, getting rid of Perillioux was the right thing to do.

won't know until the end of the season. if he fires these jokers then I'll trust him, if not then he's another Dinardo who can recruit but does not maximize the utility of his talent **cough Chad Jones

Why does he get a pass on the Co-DC thing? He made that decision. His reasoning was completely and utterly stupid, and now its biting us in the arse.

Reality is that he didn't want to let any one of his coaches go, and brought in Robinson for Special Teams.

He gets a pass because he is a National Championship winning coach. If you have been around LSU very long, you may have noticed how rare these guys are.

Saban couldn't even pull in the AP voters, not that he tried very hard at all, but Miles did & got a unified National Title for LSU. First since 1958.

Sammich, claiming Miles did something that Saban didn't with the AP title is utterly stupid. Miles also is the first coach to ever get an MNC with 2 losses. That isn't a sign of anything other than pure luck and nothing more.

Miles is a good coach, but his NC is more controversial than the 2003 one by 10x.

I will hold off on judgement until after the season. I know it is hard to fathom, but it is possible that we end up with the same regular season record as last year's national championship team.

Bob, are you under the impression a Colleges in DIV 1A is allowed to hire as many Coaches as they want??

Why would he? Coming off a National Championship season, you don't start trying to "Fix" things.

BTW, LSU is now the #21 Total Defense in the Nation. (Not from ESPN...from the NCAA) I expect that number to get down to around #9-#13 or thereabouts.

It's not that hard to fathom. If we win next week, it's likely.

Decreasing, have not seen the team improve as the season continues. Some of the glaring mistakes they are continuing to make is due to coaching. Miles is the head coach, making over 3 million in fact closer to 4 , so thats where the buck stops!!!!!

It's decreased, but not because of his decision to not end the Co-DC thing now, but for ever supporting it in the first place. I lost respect in him for knowingly minimizing the leadership experience on the side of the team he has little experience.
Well said. It seems as if Miles made the big mistake, and now is trying to defend the indefensible. Unless he makes a big, bold change soon as this season ends, he's here no more than two more years.

We may very well get down to top 15 defense, but that's not likely and besides the point.

We have one good defensive game and you think our defense is going to move up 10 spots with the remaining games?

Troy's offense is better than Tulane's, as are Bama's, OM's and Arky's. They are all improving (with Bama somewhat struggling of late), but they will not be walkovers like Tulane who lost its best 2 offensive players prior to the LSU game.

No Bob, it true. What else is true is that LSU shares the 2003 National Championship with Southern Cal because they won the AP Vote.

Another 1st for Miles. He also knocked off the undisputed #1 ranked team in Ohio State, along with their #1 NCAA ranked Defense to win the National Championship for LSU.

"Pure luck" is Not scoring 1 offensive point & losing to a Zooker Florida team in 2003. Having Eli Manning fall on his arse in the 2003 Ole Miss game & needing several teams to pull upsets, one of which was Hawaii, just to secure the BCS NC bid.

Miles had a damned good point, his team was undefeated in regulation. That's both smart & very clever when he mentioned it to the media. Saban, did not & could not politic his way out of a wet paper bag, so Pete Carroll was the only one that did any politicking & he won over the AP voters.

Ummm... The fact is that you can't compare the two circumstances like that.

First off, in 2003, computers and SOS kept OU in the title game against LSU. Had the system used now been used then. LSU would've played USC.

Everyone last year knew tOSU was a fraud and even Herbstreit claimed they didn't belong.

Did it not take a rash of upsets to get LSU back into the MNC game last season? Seriously? Pitt had to beat WVU, OU had to beat Mizzou, etc.

Being the first 2 loss championship team is not something to brag about. We can claim we are champions, fine, but don't go claiming we did something amazing by being the first 2-loss MNC.

As for the OT-losses. Bad coaching cost us those games. We should've won both, plain and simple. Stupid coaching decisions by Miles and Pelini costs us both of those games.

In the end, both coaches are good coaches, but at least I can admit Saban accounted for his weaknesses by hiring more assistant coaches on that side of the ball. Miles cannot have the same said for him.
