Nah. We are more prestigious of a place than Tennessee. Hell we could prolly get Lane Kiffin.

hell no, saban would jump at the chance to return to lsu. he only took al b/c miles wouldn't quit while ahead.

then the rant could close doors, b/c everything would be perfect in turdville.

It depends on the timing. UT was fricked because it was so close to NSD. The fact that Kiffen was there only a year might have given pause to a lot of candidates who would have been otherwise receptive.

They might have thought there were problems behind the scene that caused Kiffen to bolt so readily.

We know why candidates were so reluctant to take a chance on USC.

Now for the sake of argument two things happen next season: 1) Les wins the SEC, and 2) Rich Rod leaves or gets the pink slip at Michigan.

Does Michigan make a run again at a guy who will have won over 60 games at LSU? And is a died in the wool Michigan man? Add in the fact Les probably feels like he can never fully win over the fan base at LSU ever again, and I think Les would bolt if he had somewhere to bolt to.

Who would we get. Point to a succesful head coach you feel that has a better than even chance of coming to LSU.

I think the only one out there LSU has a good shot at would be Bo Pelini. And even that is not a given.

I'll go out on a limb right now and predict that if Miles is gone after 2010, and we can't convince Pelini to take the job, the next head coach at LSU will be an assistant coach somewhere, not a head coach.

No, LSU is a better job than Tenn. La produces top talent and it's neighbor Texas produces talent.

Hell no. Gruden, Del Rio, and Cowher are all sitting by the phone waiting for LSU to call. LSU is a top job and all three know that they can hang out on the Rant and soak in all of the football knowledge.

If I remember correctly, Saban left us about the same way. People on here were in a panic because we didn't have someone lined up and couldn't find anyone to take the job. I don't believe Coach Miles was our first choice.

No you are not. And it is not even close if you look at history.

Having a fertile recruiting ground does not put a program as a top "prestigious job"

The last coach we got was Les Miles... all he was known for was beating Bob Stoops a few times. We didnt exactly get top of the line then.

FWIW, Im not a Miles hater

LSU is not about to be hit by NCAA so I doubt they would go to their 6/7th choice.

I don't agree but if it were the case it wouldn't be the end of the world. I find it funny that just because Mike Archer was a complete failure LSU fans go nuts over the possibilty of us hiring a coordinator even one at the NFL level.
