its a crapshoot, luck, talent and good coaching will get you there. you have to recruit nba type players to give you a chance, even then it may not happen. i'll tell you this its a blast when you have a horse in the race in march, with anthony randolph last year that team had a chance. he would have stayed if brady wouldnt have gotten fired. quit giving trent any credit for winning a championship last year, when he wins won with HIS recruits then you can give him one. he is a good coach no doubt, but we all see what he can do with no talent, lets wait and see what he does with his players.

takes some luck, look at the football team how lucky they were to even get in the game. some crazy things happened out of our control for us to get in both games.

Florida has won two so never say never.

However, I hate to say this, but I honestly think we'd have to "go rougue" and get a sleazeball like a Calipari to win a title in hoops and as much as I'd love to win one I wouldn't want to stoop that far.

Trent will do it the right way and while I think there are some schools in the country where a title can still be won the right way I don't think LSU in basketball is one of them.

But if we can make the tourney most years with and be competitive in the SEC and advance to an occassional Sweet 16, which I think Trent will eventually do...I'd be happy cause I'd know we'd be doing it with integrity and we could be proud of the way our kids represent LSU.

I never understood the retards that say LSU isnt a basketball school.....it has a great history/tradition. LSU gets pretty good respect on it's history and it sends it's fair share to the league.

Hell..even a couple years ago..LSU wasn't a "baseball" school...when they were struggilng no one was going to the box.

But why bother arguing..half this board swears College Baseball is the 2nd most popular college sport nationally.

With this year being a rebuilding and struggling year, this question pops into my mind. I will always love LSU no matter what, but it sure would be cool to one day get one in basketball. First things first and I really hope next year we get back into contending for the SEC and making the tournament.

There are far more competitive teams in Basketball. There are great basketball programs that focus on little else. One player can be enough to tip a team from great to champion. The cards simply aren't there for LSU - with all of it's successes in other sports - to get there in basketball. If we didn't get one with Pistol Pete, and later with Jackson/Shaq, it's not going to happen.

If we couldn't win it with Brady, I don't think we ever...............
nevermind. I never thought the Saints would make it to the Super Bowl.

There are a number of factors that must happen for LSU to have a shot at doing it. The facilities would need to be upgraded. The fans and the community will need to fully embraced the program. We will have to establish a consistent program where we are in the tourney every year. The more we are in the tourney, the more opportunities we will have to get a good draw. The high school coaches around the state will need to get on board and LSU's coach, whomever it may be, will need to develop a great relationship with them. We need to be the first choice for elite kids from N.O., B.R., and N.LA., not further down the list. We should NEVER have a roster that look like the current one we have because it sets us back at least two years imo. We should pay our staff like we pay our football coaches to attract the best staff. And finally, we need to develop a style of play that recruits will enjoy, fans will apreciate, and will prepare them for the NBA.

As a Basketball Guy, I can dream, right?
