re: Why JJ regressed while Lee did not

JJ got cocky and quit working hard thinking he had the job then when JL caught up to him it was too late, but to use him for the option and keeps.

JLee almost threw a pick on that slant o Tolliver
But he didn't. JJ would have taken a sack or scrambled for a lose. He can't get ball out quick enough.
The entire offense bogs down when he's in the game. The plays take longer to develop, hand off is telegraphed and the passing game sucks.
Lee should be the starter.

The vast majority of work done at the qb and wide receiver positions are not done during the organized team practice.
The vast majority of work and where "getting better" happens is on the players own time, when instead of sitting in his apartment on the couch playing x box he is in the practice facility throwing balls or in the conference room or film room looking at tape and learning the nuances of the game.
That being said, JJ has been to a large extent been coached down (coached to be to conservative so he wouldn't make JL's early mistakes) while JL was on rock bottom and had no place to go but up.

One possibility that I haven't seen brought up yet is Billy Gonzales.
He is the "passing game coordinator" is he not?
This is his first year correct? And JJ suddenly regresses like no QB in history from the first game of the season.
I know Gonzales also deals with the wide receivers but he is responsible along with Gary Crowton to improve the passing attack of this offense.

JJ went as a counselor. I am pretty sure that you have to be invited to serve as a counselor.
Being 2nd string or maybe he was not recommended by the coaching staff, but pretty sure he was not invited.
Hopefully JLee will be invited next year rather than JJ.

hey, cheat on, you're a douchbag.
you and most ranterds have no idea what these young men are made of. pls keep your opinion of young men who are accomplishing more in their college years than you will accomplish in your whole miserable life.
and, you and the negaterds have not an iota of coaching ability.
so, now your opinion has been critisized by my opinion. and, your opinion ain't for shite.

Lee's body of work is more limited than JJ's, so not sure you can draw that conclusion just yet.
Yes, you can.

Complete and total conjecture!

It's all about commitment. Knock on JJ is he hardly ever gives the extra, extra effort (film room, voluntary workouts, etc) like others. JLee made huge strides this off-season, committing to be the best he could be. Look at the shape he came in this fall. Look at the focus on the sidelines, look at the attitudes. Two completely different "want" levels, if you ask me
It is a lot easier to believe that one of the players put in more effort during his own time than it is to believe that a coach would work on one and ignore the other.
I'd like to know whether this is true or conjecture. I'm sure we won't find out unless a coach reveals it.

Both QB's are victims of a lack of development from Crowton. JJ has definitely regressed & his accuracy has gotton worse.
I know a lot of people want to make JL out to be a much improved player but in reality JL is basically the same player he was a couple years ago. Inside the opponents red zone he has thrown 3 balls that should have been Int's with one of those being a possible pick 6. Same ole JL which is why they want him to spend a lot of time on the sidelines so he can see what opposing defenses are doing (same goes for JJ), both have benefited.
I think the only difference in the two is that JL has retained more of his HS coaching that JJ. Whatever the case, Crowton has failed these kids.

This is not exclusive to JL.
JJ has had at least 5 picks this year dropped so far. A couple of those would have been pick 6's

That could be the dumbest thing every posted. So he only coached one of the QB's?
Oh man that is just great. Oh and of course he coached the one that's not getting it done.

JJ is utterly incapable of leading his receivers. This is the crux of the issue.
It's a no brainer that Lee is not only capable, but a good Quarterback.

Actually, he has not regressed at all, just not made any advancement. Still only has 5 or 6 plays he can even function in, and the defenses have been able to pick up on what is being run. It's not that he has regressed, he's just not able to get by with sheer athletic ability alone any more. Cannot grasp the mental side of the game.

And you assertion that open football practices is the only time QBs are coached is laughable at best. Mechanics get worked on in 1-1 sessions with the QB coach. A lot goes into it. You can't tell me Lee got the same treatment JJ did. Its not possible.
