Because we miss the ball and hit the kicker

Good Question? If you send everyone you have a good chance for a block.

I guess the coaches prefer our chances with a return with the weapons we have.

Let me guess...Trindon is the answer to this problem.

Not saying that nor was I saying they were correct though we are second in the SEC in punt returns.

I call bullshite. That's an outrageous number. Maybe "kicks," not just punts, but that still seems like a shite ton.

UF has had like 30 or more blocks since UM took over.

We do seem to neglect that part of the game.

In fact during the MNC year of '07 Early Doucet was dispatched to fair catch punts rather than return them.

true. I just did the math, if you count the '02 season, that gives them 43 in 8 1/2 seasons. Which would come out to 5 a year. That's still a whole helluva lot, but if we're including FGs and XPs, it makes more sense. Still very impressive.

true...even during the lavalais years when our defenses would flat out scare opponents, we seldom tried to block punts....

trouble with attempting to block punts is, at best your returner gets to fair catch for no return....leave a returner all alone back there and some pretty nasty things can happen....

at the same time, if we attempt to block a punt, then the line has to stay back and actually block the players which prevents them from setting up a wall...it would be our athlete vs their athlete for the tackle

I don't care if LSU goes after punts or not, but you bring up a pet peeve of mine indirectly. IF you don't try to block punts, use twin safeties like everyone used to use. I guess you lose one player off one of the "gunners" but the decision making of the punt returner is much better because the other guy is going to yell "don't you dare catch that punt...you are at the 3 yard line." And if the punt returner fumbles you have someone back there to recover the ball.

LSU absolutely refuses to jam the gunners on returns since NS left, totally matadors the gunners on punt returns, and yet you folks are dreaming of the precision and effort required as to block kicks?

Humorous indeed.
