This is a good topic.
I don't think that Mathieu will put up the ridiculous numbers that he did at LSU because he might not be put in the same scheme. He might be forced to play more corner than blitzing nickel back, or he definitely will have every bit of attention paid to him by the entire offense. Now, that doesn't mean he won't still be good. I'm sure he will still return punts at whatever school he lands at. Those poor souls in the Southland Conference are going to have to run the ball away from him because they won't be able to block him. All of that is if, and that's a big if, he focuses on playing good football and doesn't get discouraged that he is no longer playing on national CBS television against a top 10 opponent, and instead he is playing against a school he has never heard of in front of 20,000 fans.
If his off of the field addictions don't hurt his play, I think he will still have the same shot at making the NFL. Tyrann has always used some perceived slight against him as motivation. There is no longer a "perceived slight" as he now will want to make it big just to give a big
to all those that criticize him after this.

The NFL is changing it's tune on problem players....most organizations at least.....they just dont waste a 1st or 2nd on questionable character guys as much...
And let's face it, T's size, not his playmaking, was already an issue with regards to NFL evaluations at his position..IMO

i don't. i actually don't think he will be the same player at a smaller school. it is not about hating or anything.. it's just a feel and opinion but i think he'd lose a lot of the firey edge that he plays with at LSU.

I think he'll fade into oblivion. Even coming out of LSU, it was questionable whether he'd succeed in the NFL anyway. I fully expect him to screw up at McNeese. I base this on those that preceded him (Cecil Collins, Ryan P., etc.).
