Because when some people "think" they think crazy thoughts.

Cause they see things from a different prespective than the coaches.

it's easy to say that miles makes mistakes therefore, criticisms are valid but that is beside the point. the point is how many mistakes does miles make compared to his rivals? that's what I mean when I say fans criticize in a vacuum. fans criticize play calls but don't look at the entire game or acknowledge mistakes opponents made, much less gauging the entire season.
if you look at his resume, criticisms are increasingly unfounded and the people who cling to those criticisms look less reasonable. if miles' winning percentage were lower or if he wasn't beating good competition, the criticisms would have more merit.
still waiting on the abundant examples of miles' blunders over the years. let's get #1 out of the way - '09 ole miss.

They are criticizing a coach with more wins in the last nine years than any other BCS program, more SEC wins than any other SEC program, as many west titles as any other SEC west program, as many SEC titles as any other SEC program, and two BCSCG appearances with one title. Reasonable thinking has been proven to be beyond their mental abilities.

See Jarrett Lee and Jordan Jefferson. Les played a guy that set all time lows in the SEC and NC game over a guy that lead the league in QB rating. But other than costing us a national title, it worked out.

quote:I can agree with some of this, like WKU and OM to keep Saban looking at 2 offenses.
There is no reason lee shouldnt have been starting after the 1st bama game.
quote:I can think of a few, namely Bama, pressure, disguised covers.
There is also no reason lee shouldnt have gotten a shot in january.
quote:This is correct answer from another poster and I would've expected an 11-5-11 performance from JL.
I don't care who is under center, when your veteran and talented oline is playing like crap, ncg vs bama, you're not going to be successful
JJ threw 65% taking what D gave and kept it close enough to have a chance at wearing Bama down, but OL had their asses handed to them all night.

most of all behavior is learned (nurture.)
cynicism (distrust) and fear are learned from our parents.
most negatigers are repeating how their parents and cargivers taught them to live.
haters gotta hate.
if a child is raised with love and positive reinforcement, that is their personality.
you are here in a social forum which is a reflection of society. you see the same negative people on the political or food boards.
haters gotta hate.
hate does not have an iq. we learn from observation. appreciate the knowlegeable. have compassion for the haters.

But other than costing us a national title,
You know what Lee's QB rating was in the first Alabama game...15. You know what his career rating against Alabama was....60.
You have to be an idiot, a troll, or tigeelee to think not playing Lee cost us a title.

Do you know what Jeffersons stats were in the SEC and NC game? 16/30 for 83 yards, 1Td and 1int. COMBINED. But yea, staying the course with him was obviously the right call. I mean, his 15 yards rushing on 14 carries in the title game prove that the "dual threat" really kept Bama on their heels.

You said not playing Lee cost us a title. Lee played terrible every time he faced Alabama but for completing one pass in 2010. In the first game that year he threw seven passes, completed three for 24 yard, with two INTs. In his career against Alabama he had one TD, seven INTS with two pick-6s, and a QB rating of 60.
I don't understand how anyone can say we loss the title game because a QB who failed every time he played Alabama didn't start or play.
That thinking shows how far out of touch with reality some LSU fans have become.

Well lucky for JL and every other football player born past performances don't have the first fricking thing to do with current or future games.
So that statement is retarded.
I was at both seccg and NCg, watching that guy play qb was embarrassing.
But we'll never how it would've gone had the other qb played.
Trollish idiotic thing to say huh?

We'll never know what the circumstances around Lee not seeing action in the game. There were certainly rumblings of academic issues, along with mental issues following the 9-6 game. But assuming he was eligible and wasn't mental toast, there was no excuse for not playing him...however, I doubt it would have made much of a difference. Saban had Lee's number as far as disguising coverages went.

Coaches are human just like the rest of us. They are not always right and sometimes let their pride get in the way of making rash decisions. With regards to welter for whatever reason Chavis believes he's the best option. Time will tell whether he is right.
Posted on 7/18/14 at 8:34 pm to 337Tiger19
It is not about Knowledge, it is about judgment.
Posted on 7/18/14 at 8:35 pm to MFV
To follow up I will say this. If welter doesn't perform and he's not replaced I will not sit back and say well Chavis knows best. I will question his judgement.

And more than likely you will be wrong but it's certainly our right as fans to judge. I would love to see Beckwith unseat DJ in camp, but if he doesn't it likely means he doesn't have full grasp of the calls the Mike makes.

I don't buy the call thing. Put the best player on the field. Someone else can make the calls. Correct me if I'm wrong but didn't BT make the calls on the 11 defense.

What an idiot like comment. Coaching decisions on who starts, who plays, and how much they play has everything to do with past performances.

That other QB was acting like a basket case after the first Alabama game and it's wishful thinking on the part of some that Lee was suddenly going to be a successful QB against Alabama when he had failed badly against them in his career.
