I’d say bk is 10 mil range coach for a hire, but just seeing this, from a response I got on secR.
How did y’all not complain about this or I must’ve have missed it.

We believe a guy of his reputation and experience can get put our program in a place where it is strong enough to win championships. He is a CEO guy that will make good decisions and get us good players(he is already doing it in recruiting and did in the portal)

True...why did they swallow the hook so hard and deep? I guess they thought his prior success was proof enough. We’ll see

So you think he's worth paying 10 mil a year, but shouldn't get longevity? That makes no sense.
Never mind the fact that he wouldn't leave ND and come to LSU if he wouldn't have that type of long term security.
It was one game, after he had to piece together damn near 50% of the roster. People need to face the reality of the situation. LSU was projected to win around 6 games. This was supposed to be a tough year.

Because you don't get a coach like that to come without doing that.

If you aren't hiring a coach based on prior success, what the hell are you hiring them on? Trying that out with O is what got us into this mess in the first place.

This may be the most intelligent post you've ever made. There may be hope for you after all.

But why not say...BK we want to give you the 100 million but a 5 yr contract instead of 10 yrs. we’re prepared to pay big but it’s still contingent on winning...you pretty much got to duplicate Kirby or DABO success..sorry but you wanted big baw football you ready?

What you miss is the fact that Saban, Smart, or Jimbo Fisher could not win anything without top 3 recruiting classes. That is the bottom line. If Kelly can have top 3 recruiting classes in the next 5 years he will win if not forget it.

I mean I, we, everyone gave shite about 75 to jimbo at A&M.
Hard not to question the 10 years. It’s hard to accept the 10 mil too. It’s high for him, especially w a long contract. 10 for 6 would’ve been questionable IMO.
Again, didn’t really follow the hire much so this isn’t a flame or what not, just a discussion I’m willing to bring to you fans directly.

How much did support staff get? What is the current cost for this season, and what was prior BK hire? Also, what was Ed’s/yr salary his last year?

So you are ok with paying him 20 mil/year for 5 years, but not 10 mil over 10? My gosh this fan base has some of the dumbest people on this planet.

Lulz. Ya I didn’t understand that.

You are approaching this from an Arkansas perspective. It's the reason LSU hangs championship banners and Arkansas doesn't. You went shopping in the bargain bin to get your coach, and it seems it may work out well. I doubt it results in championships, but you may get really lucky one year. LSU goes after the best of the best (excluding the O hire, but Alleva was a moron). And even O won a championship here. We go after the best, and it almost always results in national titles. And I'd bet Kelly gets one at LSU before Arkansas sniffs a NC.

All the downvotes you’re getting… people still drinking the koolaid.
Both Aranda and Napier, who are better Xs and Os guys, could have been had for a much less restrictive contract.

Brother, you don’t have to bring Arkansas into this. I know we will never have the success LSU has/will.
That’s why I’m asking this question…
So he’s worth top dollar and expected to go 6 wins, possibly last in the west. Which would be 2 years in a row?
You could have hired a caveman and got more than 6 wins…
Again, this isn’t a troll. Here to ask legitimate questions without the dramatics. I may be an Arkansas fan, but I’d never drop 10mil/10yrs on BK…

Downvotes don’t mean poop. It’s expected.

You can just see it watching Aranda’s defense and Napier’s offense compared to Kelly’s offense. Each one is more advanced and cutting edge.
Let’s look at Napier just for an apples-to apples comparison: his offense against Utah had motion, misdirection, guys schemed open and easy reads whereas for the first 3 quarters we put way too much on the QB and just relied on winning 1on1 matchups.

Glad we can agree. I’m sure we both want what’s best for LSU at the end of the day.

I want what’s best for LSU too. Do you see BK at LSU in 10 yrs? I don’t, and that’s immediately why I think it’s silly. LSU paying 10 mil for a coach, ABSOLUTELY!
