Don't know how a line with Nevis and Downs at DT would hold up against the run. Both are the quick lighter DT and need a good 300 pounder in there. Don't see how Levingston loses his starting spot if he stays at DE.

I agree but as we have seen just because a guys are called the starters doesn't mean they will be on the field most the time. So its possible that those two are called the starters and are hardly on the field at the same time

I think downs unseats somebody, but they rotate them anyway, I believe Davenport will get some reps as well.

I think this is right, but I think Aghyere gets the nod over S. Montgomery who will come in more on passing downs.

I'm hoping Chavis does more rotating on the DL this year and Downs sees a lot of snaps. However, that hasn't been his style in the past.

I agree with all this....and I wanted add on to that DT postion, that other guy is right, we need TWO larger DT's to fill space...remmeber when Dorsey and those guys were here, they didnt move...they held there ground...i love downs, but I remember quite few times he was blown off the line, they gotta learn to fall or hold their ground...

Pretty likely, Chancey does have seniority and experience over Sam which has proven to mean something over the last few years.

Having Edwards and Sam coming off the ends on 3rd and long and Mingo as a rush LB would be fun to watch.

Although it might not happen this year, you could add J.C. Copeland in there as well. He's quick.

Montgomery did his red shirt, its all about talent now, Les knows to play the most talented, he will be on the hot seat this year and he knows it.

I wouldnt mind seeing him this year, but I like it when the freshman who are lineman redshirt, and I think Miles does too.

Last season LSU played 4 scholardship DTs- woods, charles, downs, nevis. When Downs got hurt Miles played a walk on Dennis Johnson over true freshman Brockers and Davenport until Downs was available again. Thats pretty telling that Miles wanted those guys to redshirt. The reason Downs played is because we were paper thin at DT last season.

This season LSU has Nevis, Downs, Levingston, Brockers, Davenport at DT who are available to play. Thats 5, and not counting Logan who I dont know if hes an END or TACKLE or Dennis Johnson( was he a SR?). Maybe JC is more ready to play than Brockers or Davenport and could see some time, but we are a little deeper than last season.

I think they are moving him to DT, around bowl time I heard he was around 290lbs...He's my darkhorse...could be pretty good, just wanna see him a few times...

I have a theory that if you bring in a frosh and a JUCO at the same position, the coach would really, really, really like for the JUCO to come in and play in order to Redshirt the true frosh.

You could argue that Miles didn't offer Ken Adams unless he thought he could play this year; therefore redshirt a frosh DE.

If thats the case, we would have 6 DTs available to play (meaning none are redshirt eligble). Last year we made it with only 4 and a walkon which is pretty good from an injury standpoint, we were lucky with injuries at DT last season.

Nevis, Levingston, Downs, Brockers, Davenport, Logan. Im not sure any freshman could outshine these guys enough to jump them and get PT this season unless we have a few injuries.

I would agree, until next year when "the freak arrives" I think he's moving some of those ends to DT (Brockers, Logan, Lev) because we have Soooooo many good DE's...

I think damn near all of those new DL guys in this class redshirt unless Ego is a freak of nature...

agree, I still think Mingo is a hybrid guy, wont be able to put on the weight for DE...and might be too tall and not fast enough for LB....might be a stand up LB/DE hybrid...

said that earlier...I think he starts opening day 2011...I think he'll beat out everyone....my brother coached against him and said he hadnt seen a guy like that in many years...said Hilliard, Collins, Landry, and Hill were gonna be the next crop of future 1st and 2nd rounders...he's seen them all play

Gonna be some great competition. Davenport prolly plays most run downs he seems the only true 1 tech. Somebody might emerge as other space eater besides him. This bunch will really help our LB corp. Sheppard and Baker gonna look like the old Faulk and B.James days. Tackling fools.
