Chavis has done an amazing job and there is probably no other DC out there that can be equal but the fact remains that he is only the coordinator. Les Miles is the one who hired him, and his assistants, and closes on the recruits who will eventually play on his defense. Miles deals with all of the BS and nuances that a HC has to deal with. Les Miles is the one who had to answer to what Tyrann Mathieu did and he was the one who handed down the punishment, not Chavis.

Funny how that article conveniently left off the CEO's total compensation and just posted his salary.
Montag's salary for 2011 seems to be mostly one time bonuses. I'd be surprised if he makes more every year than Moynihan.
Either way this discussion is dumb. Chavis shouldn't make more than Miles.
