Is this the game lsu inbounded ball from under opponent goal and inbounds pass went to backcourt and out of bounds without anyone touching it? Resulting in opponent getting ball under their goal and scoring on inbounds to win. Don’t remember who we were playing but remember that happening.
No. That was Florida. That’s the one I always remember. We had the ball out of bounds under our own basket with the lead a 1-2 seconds left (I dont remember exactly how long but it was just a couple seconds). All we had to do was inbounds the ball and the game was over. I don’t know if we had drawn that up and someone was supposed to be down court to at least touch the ball and start the clock but they weren’t. Full court inbounds pass, ball out of bounds without being touched and the clock doesn’t start. Florida now has possession and inbounds the ball under their basket. Of course, since we are LSU, the only logical outcome was for them to score the easy basket as time expired.
I just did a quick search and looked at some results from the mid-late 80s (I am pretty sure that’s the timeframe) but I didn’t see scores that would reflect that sequence of events. I will leave my recollection up as maybe someone else can correct me or confirm my memory.
Edit: I see the other replies saying Georgia and that is correct. 2/2/1985. I can’t find any video of it on YouTube. Probably just as well.
