I'll take Matt Flynn

Would you also take a dick in the arse over winning the lottery? Because choosing Flynn over JR is equally stupid.

I know many, many Tiger fans who would pick Flynn over Russell and yes, they're idiots. Rusell had more success in 2006 than Flynn did in '07 (injured or not).

Both were two of the best of their respective last seasons at LSU, but JR was head and shoulders the best qb we've had at LSU in ages.

Funny how Jamarcus gets benched for the Raiders and now they start winning. Both of our losses in 2007 were high scoring. There are plenty of more things that go into being a quarterback than stats.

Funny how the NFL has absolutely nothing to do with them in college, huh? Additionally, fricking hilarious how JR started over Flynn for two years at LSU.

And how we won the National Title in 2007, after he left.

With the same amount of losses, easier schedule, more balanced offense, etc.

JR had more TDs
JR had less INTs
JR had more yards
JR had a higher completion %
JR had a higher YPC

Clearly, JR is the reason we didn't win the national title in 2006.

Perhaps, but Davey is my all time favorite and I'd go with him over JR every time. Davey was a better leader and better under pressure, IMO.

I think they were probably interchangeable. Your statement regarding JR having more success in 06 is true, but the 07 offense had more success. Certainly there are many factors that affect that, but the QB is the biggest. Russell has a one-in-a-million arm, but Flynn could make a bigger variety of throws. I don't see our record being any different in 06 or 07 regardless of the QB.

Like I said, they were both great qb's, but sec417 or whatever basically saying we didn't win more games b/c of JR is silly.

If we have Ally Broussard in '04 form in 2005 and no Katrina (if, if, if), we win the national title or at least have a chance to get snubbed by the BCS ala Auburn in '04.

We were DOG TIRED with no running game and players living in apartments with 15 people. 2005 - much should be contributed to Russell.

Also, AU '06, Jimbo and Les handcuffed him and played not to lose. Russell's worst starts at LSU were:

1) 2004 Florida
2) 2006 Florida
3) 2005 Tennessee (due to a stupid decision he made before half)

Other than that, cannot complain about JR. He lit up some good teams and won 22 games as the starter for LSU in 2 years and one game ('04 UF).

I wasn't complaining about Jamarcus I just think Flynn was a better quarterback. Its a matter of opinion. Just like if we had a decent QB coach I would like to have Lee instead of Jefferson.

Fair enough, but give specifics as to why, please.

Things JR gets no credit for by many:

1) beating what looked like an invincible Arkansas team on the road in 2006. Russell wasn't the one wh let McFadden and Jones rush for 300 yards on us. Instead, he made 2 great TD passes to Davis and Doucet.

2) Beating UT on the road despite our D's want to make Jonathan Crompton look like Joe Montana. Russell remianed poised and hit Doucet with ticks left on the clock...on the road to another, at the time, top 10 team.

JaMarcus actually started the Florida, Vanderbilt, Alabama, and Ole Miss games in 2004.

and beating #3 Bama on the road with a torn wrist ligament was pretty impressive too IMO

Did he? I was unaware of that. Oh well, add more to his record.

I don't know how much he played, or how long you have to play in the game for a QB to get credited for the win, but I opened up the box scores from 2004, and Russell was the QB on our first drive in each of those games.

attitude..can't stand when a QB makes a bad throw and then blames the receiver. That pisses me off, many other things I don't like

Russel had basically 3 years of playing time to improve. I wonder how much Flynn could have improved if he had as many games under his belt.

Also, I think you should include rushing stats for the QBs.
