Not an elite school. We have one of the elite sports programs.

I’m here watching the lunatic fringe erupt.
Let me be very clear, in no way I am advocating that what has happened this year is good. However, I don’t understand the lack of grace to a situation that has never happened.
I think it’s factually inaccurate to make the statement that Coach O can’t coach with what occurred last year. I judge coaches at their best, what did you do when you had your most talented and veteran team.
You are blind if you don’t see the fact that this team looks like a junior varsity team. It’s got talent at spots yet no experience or veteran leadership.
This is no fault of the coaching staff in my opinion. It is a perfect storm. When you look at the result thus far in 2020 and look at the facts, it heavily supports that the attrition and opt outs are the culprit.
Saban got lucky in 2004 with opener against Oregon st that their kicker missed 3 extra points that kept LSU in the game. Saban lost a ton from 2003 team and experienced a down year with 5 losses and could have been 6. No covid or opt outs.
Just be reasonable and refrain from the statement that it should never happen at LSU.
Look at Oklahoma and Texas...

First, all teams are dealing with Covid so I give no credence to that excuse. The roster turnover is only an excuse for losses to the better teams in the conference. What we are seeing in my opinion is 100% due to coaching specifically Pelini. I hope he can turn it around and we can salvage a respectful season. If not I’m sure O will make a change.

CEO said he would hire the best assistants and stand back and watch them do their thing.
1. We lost our DC and (in actuality) our OC
2. We hired a bad DC and the (in title only) OC is calling the shots
3. Lost a lot of starters
So you have a head coach who manages coordinators working with actual poor coordinators with one of them instituting a defensive system completely different than what the current roster was recruited for, with a young team with little experience. Couple with that the NC hangover and Covid you have the result on the field.
My subjective analysis also sees a lack of energy and true leaders on both sides of the ball.
Put it all together and you see what you see with the on field product.

Some people are happy with winning one and then becoming a good not great team again. Others want to see sustained excellence.
To me, we’ve achieved one year of excellence. The next step is sustained excellence. LSU isn’t doing that so we are falling short of what the next step is. That’s disappointing. Particularly with the remaining talent and the cost of our coaches.

Who wants a team that plays like divinity students? I do not.
