Honest answer.. 2004..

We started out lucky to beat Oregon St. UGA blows us out, Trailing Troy St by 5 with 1:36 left, Lucky to beat Bama and UF. Should have beat AU. Broussard was hot but we waited until the 4th quarter to play him. Iowa beats us on the last play of the game, Saban screwed us and we were the defending national champs....

Never have I expected more and been more disappointed.

In my opinion and lifetime it was the Hallman years. There was just no hope. At least during the downfall of Dinardo we had great moments even if the season as a whole was bad. Dinardo always had the talent where you felt competitive.

I think the success Saban brought ruined the true passion for fandom. A 10-2 season now is looked at as horrific and heads should roll. Expectations are such that a win is a relief and a defeat is the end of the world.

Based on expectations, 2008.

First team in college football history to lose five games the year after winning a National Championship.

Haunted by the Mallveto Monster all year. Completely shut down Armanti Edwards of Appalachain State, (Dual Threat QB fans go have a look see at that game tape if available) but nobody else. The villagers (LSU fans) should have hunted the thing down with pitchforks and axes.

Crowton had inexperienced freshman Jarrett Lee throwing over the middle every other down, instead of safe, confidence building routes. We all know the results of that.

The 1922 season was the worst.

Thanks Warren Harding!

LSU went into the season ranked #8? nationally and got Drop Linebackered into a 4-7 season. I think Quincy Carter was at one point in the UGA game 18 of 19 passing. Suuuckkked.

Thomas Dunson covering Champ Bailey 1 on 1. Thanks, coach Tepper.

Never.

The only season LSU has gone winless in the SEC was 1983, 0-6.

f it pertains to disappointments, the worst season has to be the '98 season. We entered the season ranked #7 and then proceeded to go 4-7. This was the first year of the famed Lou Tepper "Drop Linebacker" defense. I was a student at the time and knew we would be in trouble when we gave up 410 yds of offense to Idaho.

I take serious offense to this. You were obviously not paying attention that season. Lou always said it was going to take 3 years to implement his system, and because of Gerry's tomfoolery, Lou was not given adequate time. As usual LSU fans expected immediate results. If our fanbase would have just been patient (and Gerry would have recruited LB's with a little more talent than Bradie James and Trev Faulk), our defense would have quickly become the most awesome defense in the country. T Dunson was quickly becoming one of the best LB's to ever wear the purple and gold, but his career was railroaded by what was happening on the offensive side of the ball. Our players were finally starting to buy into the system when we destroyed Miss State (41-6, I might add), and then several players on the offensive side started stealing purses, Jesus Christ (Josh Booty) found out he was not invincible, Abram started modeling, Ryan Clark's parents when gangster on other parents in the stands, and the rest was history.

Don't pin this all on Lou. Lou was doomed from the start and his system never got a fair shake.

While on its face this call may be somewhat questionable, this was simply genius on Coach Tepper's part. This was a mis-match alright, but the other way around. Bailey was a cornerback, pure and simple. Jim Donnan (the mental equivalent of Curly Hallman) tried to get cute and have Bailey play on offense. Problem was Bailey couldn't catch (and Quincy "Cokehead" Carter couldn't throw), so Bailey was nothing more than a decoy. With Dunson covering him, that freed up one of our CB's to blitz the QB. I'll take that mis-match all day long.

Simply brilliant.....
