in the first place? Only noteworthy accomplishment was hanging the Duke lacrosse team out to dry. While at LSU was the hiring of Will Wade.

They weren't. He wasn't even a candidate. Lombardi was hired as president and came in and recommended him and the BOS went along with it.

They were thinking, "Here's a guy who has zero hope of being hired anywhere. If we give him a job, he will have to do every single thing we say, because we will own him."
