Any good team can beat any good team on any given Saturday.
Having said that LSU trailed in the fourth quarter FIVE times last year. And you lost to two mediocre teams at home. That does not equate to championship football in any other year, period.
Compare that to what Florida, USC, Alabama, Oklahoma, Texas and perhaps even Penn St, Utah and Texas Tech are doing this year.
Plus look at what has happened to LSU this year, despite returning a lot of talent. I know losing Flynn/Hester managing the offense and Pelini, Dorsey and the two veteran corners on defense is very hard to overcome, but LSU really went downhill. Taking everything into consideration, that 2007 team simply wasn't as great as you guys like to think.
You won the NC fair and square though. It's not about how good you are, it's about how good you are at that moment, when circumstances align, that counts.

Too early, wait until it's all said and done. The SEC was exponentially better last year, but LSU also lost 2 games.

Tigers before Tulane game or Tigers post Tulane game?
Am I the only person that sees LSU strugling in the latter part of every football season under Les Miles (exception of bowl games)? Not being negative, just an observation.

In any "normal" year the 2007 LSU Tigers wouldn't have been close the national championship game. We basically got in because every other respectable team choked and lost 2 games as well. In 2006 we lose 2 and don't even win the SEC West. In 2007 we lose 2 and win a national championship.
IMO, the 2006 team was better than 2007 team.
