Justin Jefferson just straight up said “he was a poor college athlete.”

It really makes no sense with Justin either. I mean he has a brother in the NFL. I doubt very seriously he is poor. Ricky can give a few grand to mom or dad and then mom or dad in turn gives to Justin. And, like I mentioned, that's flirting with violation of NCAA rules.

Agreed! To be honest I brought this thread up not even thinking about violations, just annoyed about people (especially scholarship athletes and possibly future nfl athletes) asking for money like a homeless man on the side of the road. But now I am very curious about the possible rule breaking.

If it’s legal then why not. Gumps get paid outright. Those bitches don’t even try and hide it.

Maybe this is how they do it. “Hey big time recruit- just open a go fund me and a brinks truck will show up at the front door” but only if you sign with us

I don't think most athletes really understand the advantage of having their tuition and room and board paid for by the University compared to what non-scholarship individuals must do to get the same. That being said, I know full-scholarship athletes get a certain amount of cash each month, though it isn't much. And there are stipulations on earning money. So I can understand them needing money. Dale Brown mentioned these things back when he was coaching. There's millions and millions if not billions of dollars made by the NCAA and Universities every year and people are getting rich off the hard work these athletes put in to compete. I think athletes should get paid like any student would that holds a job. 10 bucks an hour for practice and games and game preparation. I mean, in all fairness these athletes work a lot harder practicing and in games than if they were working in a fast food restaurant. I understand what you are saying about some homeless person unwilling to get a job or whatever, I just don't think it's a fair comparison since these athletes do work, they just don't have a job. And I understand the tuition and room and board can be seen as the pay they get for their work in their sports but the work they do helps generate a lot of money and a lot of income for a lot of people that are doing nothing but sitting on their arse getting rich off the efforts of these athletes. I just think it's time the NCAA share the riches with the individuals most responsible for the money.

they probably believed once they went pro there would be endorsements. only to realize a very small percentage of players actually get any endorsement money at all. and a majority is controlled by a couple players in the entire league.

I see this said all the time. Who are these people? Other than the coaches and support staff, who is getting rich off of college athletics? The majority of the money goes right back into the programs.

LINK How about these recruiting services like 247, Rivals ect? Paid sites that are making money off HS kids. How much money do you think is generated by college sports every year? Shoe companies, sports clothes and gear all get advertisement every time a student athlete puts on their gear. How much money would Steph Curry get for wearing a pair of Air Jordans? Money is being made that cannot even be calculated. When a kid sees an LSU athlete wearing a particular brand of shoe do you really believe that will have no influence on wheter or not that kid wants a pair of those brand shoes? Of course the child will, that's why Nike paid Jordan millions of dollars a year to wear their shoes.

Recruiting sites make money, sure, but that’s not really on the effort of the kids. There’s always gonna be kids that fans want to read about but it ain’t like the kid has to put hours of sweat into it. And if someone like Stingley, the top recruit this year, had quit football in 9th grade, 247 would not make a penny less this past year. Some other kid would be the top.

Now the shoe contracts etc - sure. But in college the school has the contract. The school provides the show to the kid. The school gets paid the money and guess where it goes? Have you seen the locker rooms they use? The workout facilities? The sheer amount of gear they get? Giant rooms full of cleats and every type of equipment they could want? Academic centers? Nutritional centers? That’s where that money goes. The kids are the beneficiaries, not some guy ‘sitting on his arse making millions’.

I guess dumb enough to not know what the hell you’re rambling about

Oh wait.. let me guess.. you assume I’m being tricked by somebody “posing” as these players online and trying to play us for some quick cash. No you fricking idiot, I’m not 10 years old. It’s their official accounts that they post on themselves day after day. Go take a look before you look like the dumbass yourself.
