Because we all know how much cops love criminal defense attorneys.
This guy isn't your run of the mill defense attorney.

Why do you think the players lawyer said he probably wasn't going to let them even speak?
Because there's rarely any good reason for a person to speak to the police. You stand a much better chance of making it worse than making it better.

especially if they have video of what happened.
Now why would they tell a potential criminal suspect they have such video?
Because he plays football for LSU?

I don't think y'all realize what kind of stick Nathan Fisher carries. If the police have a video he knows about it.

This video thing was put out by the BRPD as a scare tactic, so when the boys come in this morning they can be like "We have yall on tape beating these kids, so if you just tell us the truth, this will all be alot easier for you."

I doubt Fisher says,"Oh shite! Well Guys, ya'll better tell them everything."
More then likely Fisher says, "show me the tape and we'll talk." BRPD would be retarded to use this tactic.

exactly. Bets play is to say nothing about your tape and see if they lie and hang themselves.

Agreed. These security videos are rarely worth a shite, and you usually cannot discriminate any faces unless they stare at the camera in a close up. The police will use the threat of the video I'd bet.

Video or no video, please don't act like there is a set procedure to what the police can release or not. It is up to the head of the investigation if he thinks its best to not show the video prior its his call or his superior's call. No set procedure only what they think is best.
As for turning over the video, if one exists, if the players are arrested, all the evidence will be turned over to the D.A. At that time, the D.A. if asked by the defense attorney, will have to provide whatever evidence he has.
Lastly, if there is a video, I would bet that Fisher has already seen it or at the very least knows whats on it. The reason why he is hired in these situations is because he is good. Why is he good, because he is always prepared. The police aren't the only people that have a right to investigate. Don't think that he or his investigator hasn't already contacted the businesses in the area about videos.

is it in the best interest of their investigation to reveal this info to the "persons of interest"?

it's called discovery. covered earlier. We aren't even anywhere close to that in the process yet....

I'm sure they have...as any good attorney would do. the actual contents of the video may not be known to the people at the establishment.
The point is you and others are speculating on what he knows about the evidence the officers have.

Isn't most surveillance video now electronic and not on some video cassette.
I will admit that this is speculation, but if this is indeed the case, which I would bet it is, the company isn't likely giving the police its only copy.

I don't think the cops care about mind frick games right now. I think it is to the point now where they just want this off of their desk.

Chief of BRPD said they are following through with all conviction and due process.
As hard as you want this to go away, there is TOO MUCH MEDIA ATTENTION.
Unfortunately these players picked the wrong year to get involved with something like this....

Do people really not think this matters? You don't think these guys receive protection? Not just LSU, any school. Even the smaller school have good protection for their players. There is a lot of money involved with recruiting, and letting these guys play. Don't think that someone isn't on the back channel pulling some strings to ensure this doesn't turn out too serious.

All DVRs installed after 2003 pretty much have hard drive AND DVD burning capabilities

Damn right he said that, because if he had said this was a stupid fricking bar fight and I can't believe you are in my office bothering me about it when there are people being murdered down the street the media would chew his arse alive.

This is true. The only thing is the quality of the cameras pictures have dropped in some aspects because of how cheap you can get them now. You can buy a whole "security" camera setup from Sams now for like $400.

God man.....everyone knws it happens.
However, we are currently on probation, the SCHOOL (LSU) had to make a statement today about the lawyer being unable to do it pro bono, and now it's on the national media....and you think the cops will risk their careers to sweep this under the rug?
With 4 complaining witnesses and hospital bills, one sustaining serious injuries?
Seriously, join us in reality for a minute. No one wants bad things to happen to the team, but at least be rational about the situation.

I find it funny that so many people think that the cops are worried about attorneys. In most cases cops don't give a crap who the attorney is and if the attorney does some of the crap they pull on TV, they would be kicked out of the station so fast it wouldn't be funny. Until the DA gets involved which is after the arrest in most cases, the defense attorney won't get anything from the police dept.
