No, James Gilyard played for Dennis Dunn at Woodlawn. He graduated the same year I did (1991). Southwood sent Corey White to LSU and I think a DE went from there too around the same time frame.

Craig graduated in 1978 with my sister.

trey prather signed with lsu and charlie mac had promised him they were going to throw the ball more. as we all know this did not happen.mac told trey they were changing from the split backfield and two tight ends ,to the I formation and one tight end and a flanker and split end. he quit school and lost his student deferment. terry did not want to go to lsu because he was afraid the same thing would happen to him. the test story is just a myth. back then there was not a test to pass to get in,like there is now. schools could take anyone and there was no limit on schollies. terry is a close family fried. a great guy. trey is suppose to be the best athlete to ever come out of shreveport. but back then freshman could not play.

Pepper - Nice take on TB and Coach Charlie Mac. I started LSU in early 1961, spent five years in Navy including VietNam, returned to Tigerland in 1969.
It was during the '69 season that LaTech got into the playoffs and got Miami (Ohio) ??? for the Championship Game. Now that gentlemen (and ladies) was one whale of a game. All true football enthusiasts should try and get a copy of that one. And I won't even say how it turned out
For those of you who can still remember the sixties, can you recall former Tiger OL Jerry Young of Lafayette? His dad and my dad were roommates at SLI during the mid-late 30s. I played basketball against Jerry Young as well as against another roundballer named Jerry who played for West Monroe - Stovall was his name - fastest prep player on hardwood I ever saw.

Funny you bring basketball in the equation..... I used to go around and say, "Terry Bradshaw played second string behind me". Of course, I'd later explain it was church basketball and he was older but never could make many of the practices or games. But the initial response I got was usually pretty good. Terry wasn't a basketball player.

Craig graduated in 1975, not 1978 from Southwood. The 1977-78 Southwood football team had Danny Huffstickler as the quarterback. David Brewer was quarterback after that followed by Bill Andrews and Stan Humphries after him.
