I ask in reference to the weak SOS of teams ahead of us, and the big bump we would get to beat #12 Arky in SOS.
thanks

After the whining about $C getting knocked from the national championship game for the 2003-2004 season, strength of schedule was great reduced in the factor.

If you can figure out the math that goes into the BCS, good job. But even a 2nd grader can figure out a playoff bracket.
College football desparately needs a playoff system.

Brad Edwards said the human polls make up 2/3 of the BCS formula. Strength of schedule is only a factor in 1/3 of the computer rankings. That's assuming all computer rankings have a strength of schedule component. Edwards also said if your not top 2 in the human polls your not getting in the BCS Championship Game. Computer rankings aren't enough to get teams anymore cause of the newest formula.

generalization.
if a team were in 3rd in the human polls and #1 in computers and the 1 and 2 were not 1,2 or 3 or 4 in the computer average, the
#3 could move up to #2.

Serious dude? You pulled out the 'Brad Edwards said?'
I don't know/care what Brad Edwards says, a number 3 team in human polls could jump a number 2 by computer score. SOS is a factor in ALL of the computer polls. So in total, only 1/3 of the BCS scoring has SOS included. Theoretically pollsters also factor in SOS but are more geared towards Win/Loss. I'm not so sure that that is necessarily bad either.
For the OP, no one knows for sure what will happen in the computer polls with just the outcome of one game against a quality opponent. The computers use SOS but also factor in Win/Loss and quality of losses.
LSU has a high computer score because of overall record against a tough SOS and only lost to a quality team. But someone like VaTech would have a good record against decent SOS and a quality loss to Boise but also a bad loss to James Madison hence dropping them big time.
I personally preferred having the old formula with bonus points for beating quality opponents and a defined SOS component as was before USC got all butthurt for missing the 2003 NC
