When is Welch supposed to play? He was a true freshman last year. Going into year 2, they brought in a bunch of better, more experienced guys. He might be gone before we see if he has a chance to develop into a good player here.

Most portal guys probably didn;t even get a look by LSU when choosing their college choice as incoming freshmen. Three years of starting on inferior teams have given them the upper hand on being selected by major D1 schools. They can now showcase their talents at schools like LSU with the hope of professional careers.

Defensive backfield players get nicked up a lot and PT opportunities will avail themselves if he puts in the work.
