We aren’t very good and this team is going to struggle to find wins this year. Hopefully he gets his guys in place sooner than later.

When was the last team that was as bad defensively?

Bertman era.
It really is puzzling how bad the defense has been this year. Especially when it is largely the same position players who performed pretty well last year.
Doughty is not a good defensive 2nd baseman and did better at 3rd.
Otherwise, I can only assume it has to do with differences in how PM practiced and drilled the team vs JJ.

I’m giving JJ a fair shake, but this start doesn’t really build confidence. We are poorly coached for sure. The fielding issues that didn’t happen last year - at least to this degree - are inexcusable.

I hope I'm wrong because I love LSU baseball, but I can't see this team finishing anywhere but in the cellar of the SECW. I was thinking we were going to be strong this year, but JJ brought in zero pitching, and fielding is just beyond ridiculously bad. Couple of good hitters, but even they aren't producing with runners in scoring position.
Just all around bad baseball so far.
Hope something changes real soon or this is going to be as long a year as basketball was.
