Do we have a chance to go 3 starters deep on the weekend?

If the question is will we have 3 solid starters for weekend rotation, I believe the answer is yes.
I actually believe this pitching staff is built for the tournaments. I think we’ll see some really competitive pitching between 4 or possibly 5 guys that could be starters. Wildcard is the kid from Nichols, if he settles in and can get ahead of batters he will be an X factor late in the season if not a weekend starter. His stuff is nasty, he just needs to have better command of it.

We have a chance to go 6 starters deep. It typically doesn't work out that way once you get through an injury, or some who just aren't cutting it for some reason. But as of right now the answer has to be yes.

Yes. We should be able to.

I know we say this stuff almost every January, but compare this group to who we were counting on preseason in the last two years. I'm discussing these guys as they were coming into the season.

2024:

Hurd - Potential was there, production was not
Holman - Production was there
Jump - Potential was there, production was not
Ack - Relief production was there, starter production was not
Herring - Relief production was there, starter production was not
Coleman - Someone that people always kept an eye on, never developed
Cam Johnson - highly ranked recruit

2023:

Floyd - Potential was there, production was not
Skenes - highly ranked transfer, production was already there
Hurd - Potential was there, production was not
Shores - highly ranked recruit
Money - average production through his career
Taylor - Potential was there, production was not
Little - flashed some and struggled some

Like, the 2025 group is far, far and away better from a potential standpoint:

Anderson - Has shown he can pitch in the SEC
Shores - Has shown he can pitch in the SEC
Guidry - Has shown he can pitch in the SEC
Schmidt - Highly ranked recruit
Eyanson - Highly ranked productive transfer
Cowan - Highly ranked productive transfer
Mayers - See Little. Flashed 1st round stuff, can be unreliable
Ware - JUCO guy who dominated in the fall.
Evans - Highly ranked recruit

With all that said, I'd feel better about this team if we had Sheerin in the back of the bullpen.

On paper and potential wise, this pitching staff could go 5 to 6 starters deep. I can’t remember an LSU pitching staff with this many weekend starter quality pitchers.
