Why would he mean that? UGA gave up 275 yards rushing and 5.4 ypc, while LSU only gave up 113 yards and 3.8 ypc. Definitely and factually LSU was the better rush defense.
I’m sure you were attempting to go for the perception that had UGA just decided to keep running the ball, then they would have been better; but the yards per carry avg shows you that is just not true.

Not so fast with your "facts," my friend.
Jake Fromm accounted for -19 yards on 6 "carries" for a -3.2 average.
Swift had 72 yards on 12 carries for a 6.0 average.
Holyfield had 56 yards on 7 carries for an 8.0 average.
So, between Swift and Holyfield, Georgia averaged 6.7 yards per rush.
And the eye test showed Holyfield slicing through the LSU defense like a knife through hot butter.
I'm glad for us, but let's not kid ourselves by acting like LSU wasn't the beneficiary of a questionable offensive plan by Georgia.

Why take out the QB's rushing stats? Joe outrushing Fromm by about 70 was a factor.
