The market for college coaches is not free. In fact it is quite restricted and it probably artificially inflates the cost of college coaches. /thought on free market striking again.

You're not making much sense here. LSU is perfectly free to let Miles walk and hire you tomorrow. The idea that there's collusion towards 'artificial' inflation is ridiculous as long as SOME school is actually willing to pay the amount mentioned. I actually think Miles won't get a raise out of this, because he's shown that he would prefer to stay in the past. Therefore the administration will quietly give a few key assistant's raises (which is huge for our program's stability) and the circus will die down. It's a negotiation, not a stick-up.
