I was on my way home when I heard the score, it was 60 something to 30 something and figured it would be a blowout, so didnt watch. Looks like the scoring cooled off in the second half. Did you all see any improvement in the team or was it just a case of beating up on an unfortunate less talented team??

Yes and no. Victor's impact was noticeable, and the team's defensive effort was much improved at first then kinda waned as the game went on.

Lots of sloppy play and careless giveaways in the 2nd half.

As bad as their defense was in the second half their halfcourt offense may have been worse. They literally do nothing on the offensive end with regard to off ball screening, movement, etc. The isolate one player and most of the time that player leaves his feet before deciding to pass or shoot....kiss of death.

The only thing they do is run on ball screens. It's almost as if JJ locks them in a room and shows old game footage of the '98 Utah Jazz.

Bridgewater didn't play, so some of the improvement could have been from playing a true center almost the entire game, instead of a 6'3" fullback.

That's why the next two weeks on LSU's schedule are so critical. Consecutive home games against Oral Roberts, American and Wake Forest afford the Tigers the opportunity to synchronize their offense and defense while bolstering their RPI and win-loss record in the process. "Ben can have phenomenal nights, but there's still some things he's trying to figure out at this level," Jones said. "And they are trying to figure out how to play with each other, how those guys play off of each other. Defensively is something we've got to hang our hat on. We've got to rebound the basketball. But I think we still can be a high-powered. efficient basketball team that can shoot a good percentage night in and night out."

They looked better but need to gel really quickly. Having Vandy and UK on the road to start the SEC is terrible.

JJ needs to quit being so soft and coach a basketball game. He's acts like Les on the sideline like he doesn't have a care in the world. Get into the game and coach these boys. Have some passion

I'm assuming the two people who downvoted this comment haven't seen LSU play the past few years.

I don't think you need to be a screamer to be successful. However, I do think you need to have a way to affect your team, to get them to change when they are not doing the right things.

IMHO I think it's CJJ's biggest issue. He just seems to have trouble affecting the team consistently.

I watch other coaches actively signaling their players into the right positions in sets. I can see them doing things to make their players change their play on the spot.

I've seen CJJ do it some, but it's very rare. It just seems to take us longer to adjust to the things we're doing improperly. Longer to right the wrongs.

I want very badly for him to find a way to do this but he's in his 50's now and I think his style and personality is what it is.

But if he could prove me wrong I'd be very happy, I can promise you.

Which has been prevalent all year. We got what we expected with Victor returning but our problems are still there under the surface.
