Based on some of your posts, this may be up for debate.
what ever man. Let's kick everyone off the team that smokes pot. Maybe we should start recruiting in Wyoming. I mean if you're ideals are so high and mighty, why are you even a fan of college football? Clearly wining is exceptable as long as its out of sight and you don't know about it. Preach on man.

I can Guarantee you that If they tested positive for ANY of these, OxyContin or dilaudid, cocaine, crack or heroin, that player is GONE, no matter who they are, no questions asked, as it should be. If you think other wise, you are out of touch.

i didnt say that at all. i have no perfect life, trust me. in fact, i am their age and make mistakes every day. difference is though, i don't play for the number 1 football team in the land, my name isnt a household name, and i am not letting down hundreds of thousands of fans by getting suspended. i think the punishment was right on if they were reinstated today. if they are suspended for the bama game, which isnt going to happen, then it is no ones fault but their own. i like them all and we need them, but you gotta take responsibility and accept any and all consequences. end of story

Is it possible that there are experts who are capable of diagnosing, talking and counseling these students?, then reporting to coaches and/or administration? Im pretty sure you are giving an opinion based on zero facts, as I am

It may not be right, but fans will be more upset with him over a bad football team with no discipline problems, than a good one with some issues.

Every good or should say GREAT football teams have issues. Name one national champion team that did not have issues? Seriously, winning comes with a price, if you don't want to deal with it, be a fan of Harvard. This is Louisiana State university not Yale

good article on syn weed Syn Weed

"No studies have been completed on fake marijuana's effects on human health or behavior, according to the National Institute on Drug Abuse. But Huffman warns that the compounds can cause high blood pressure, elevated heart rate and "serious and unpredictable psychological effects."

So, as long as we WIN, it's all good ? Where would you draw the line in the sand? One positive test, TWO positive tests, THREE positive tests? ....

Anyone who fails an in-season drug test should be suspended. And like it or not, pot is illegal in the US.

These statements back up my previous comment about the possible effects of pot ... they make no sense and are in no way coherent thoughts.

Good gawd. Marijuana is not addictive, doesnt turn men into thieves and women into whores. It is almost IMPOSSIBLE to OD on. Alcohol is WAY worse. I was a addict for many years and smoking pot is harmless. If they tested positive or in possession of OxyContin or dilaudid, cocaine, crack or heroin then yeah, they need to sit a while. But pot? Bitch please.

you don't think players have ever tested positive for amphetamines, hydrocodone, cocaine or barbiturates before? People make mistakes but doesn't mean its a trend.

yes but I doubt that these 2 have heard from these specialists or care about their opinions.

Could I be wrong? Sure but odds are that the AD and Chancellor of a major University have not spent the appropriate amount of time, energy, and effort to make a knowledgable decision at least in terms of what is the best course of action for the student athletes.

I am sure they are well versed in what is the best course for themselves and the PR problems they imagine they have

Why yes, yes it does! And that price is being put under a microscope and being scrutinized by everyone, in particular the media. The players who break the rules have to pay a price as well, and that is being done by the LSU administration. The worst thing LSU could have done was try to sweep this under the rug like many are advocating.

Exactly, this team will win WITH or WITHOUT those players, it's THEIR choice.

you draw the line based on the established policy you do not draw new lines in the middle of the process

This should have all been discussed and decisions made before today- there should have never been a statement made that the players were returning to practice and then a subsequent statement by Martin and Aleva-

they were, and no a bright line rule in this area would make little sense.

Lots of things are illegal in the US, violations though do not all carry the same punishment. Violations of the same law often do not carry the same punishment from person to person and for good reason.

impossible to answer. Obviously you would run a tight ship, test positive for anything and they are gone regardless of the individual. Am I right? People can and should be treated on a individual basis. I am going to assume you think all three of these guys are low character kids even though you don't know them right? Are you alleva?
