It is the stupidest thing a person/fan can do. When a website or company's revenue starts to flatten out or decline there are few things they can do. In a perfect world they would get better programming, articles, etc to increase viewership, listenership or readership.

If they can't do that they are left with starting stupid polls to draw idiot fanbases to click their website link to vote. They don't give a shite who wins and actually nobody else does either.

What they do is run to the advertisers and say "look our site had so many thousand more hits the last two weeks or so. We believe the demographics of those clicks is the target audience you are trying to get at. Since there are that many more people viewing you ads we are going to have to raise your advertising fees.

Guess how the advertiser is going to get their advertising expenditures back. Yep, the price of items you use will increase just so a stupid poll can be won that no one will even remember in two weeks.

I wonder how many new polls will be started this week?

I know I don't remember who won even one online poll last off-season. How many do ya'll remember?
