Turf is so injury prone that it requires extra padding and bracing.

That was true with Astro Turf, which was essentially carpet rolled out on concrete. The new stuff is laid on top natural soil over a granulated rubber base. It looks and feels like natural grass to run on. It looks better than real grass, and looks awesome when painted. Natural grass is not a tradition, it is what everybody had before synthetic surfaces came along. Twenty years ago I would have agreed that we should not have gone to turf because it would have meant going to the old crap that caused so many injuries. The stuff now is so much better and would enhance the beauty of Tiger Stadium. Additionally, the one time cost of purchase and installation is made up over time when you take out the costs of maintenance of a natural grass field and repeated paintings. Personally, I don't have to see mud on someone's jersey to enjoy the feel of the game. I didn't feel like anything was missing at our two national championship games in the Superdome on Field Turf!

Since Louisiana HS do not have field turf Im willing to bet very few of you have ever played anything on it...

I have, its better than grass and it would be better for this team...All this shite just goes long the whole idea of many Tiger fans to make everything look as OLD FASHION as possible...Not about whats better for the game of football..
I've played on field turf twice (once at Harvard, once at West Monroe).
