using Leonard for 3rd and short plays would be $

I don't agree, you are painting a target on him using him that way, then we are back to 8 in a box. No way

Why are you responding to me on this? I didn't say that. Reread the thread and maybe you will see we actually agree with one another.

My bad , I think I just clicked reply without seeing who I was replying to

I love everything I see from Guice.

With LF back, it's like Faulk and Mealey all over again.

Even when both are 100%, neither are as good blocking as our fullback is.
You don't ask them to block. If you have Chark, Fournette, Dupre and Guice all in the game at the same time one of them is going to get a 1 on 1 matchup. Any of those guys can burn anyone in the nation 1 on 1.

Neither back presents the same physical matchup difficulty that our TE does.
Are you kidding? Their speed creates a much worse physical matchup for linebackers and safeties.

Seriously, if you put them both in, what are you going to do? Split LF or Guice out, have him come in motion, and run the jet sweep? You think that won't be jumped bigtime by the defense? You don't think the linebackers and safeties aren't going to be all over either of them on a screen?
Goddamn you're dumb. Say the lineup ina split back shotgun formation and Chark comes on a sweep. Do you respect Chark or let him run free? You have to respect him so this drags a backer or safety out of the box. Then you have a read option to Fournette. Backer has to make a decision, likely crashing down on Fournette. Now Guice can be swinging out of the back field opposite side in the flats while Dupree is running a go. You force the defense to choose who not guard and then you burn them.

This isn't in our scheme, and we're about to go into the meat of the schedule. You can tweak things mid-season, you can't put a new system in and expect it to work in a week. We're running Cam's plays, it's why we see play-action on 3rd down deep routes. Those are the plays they've learned and practiced.
We've been running a tempo scheme. It's not a hurry up but it hurts Defensive substitutions. Also we ran RPO's this year, nothing new. Maybe you see the 3rd and long deep passes because it's a long way to go?
