Yes, I realize it's a business and money talks.
Bob Brodhead was pragmatic enough to realize that decades ago.
When ex-governor John McKeithen was on the BOS he said of Brodhead's plan to expand TS to include luxury box seats: "There's something wrong to me about the people in luxury boxes looking down on the masses."
Yeah, John McKeithen was the last "Long" governor and had the populist strain and sentiment.
McKeithen's statement was kinda stupid.
But now, there's some merit to it--not a lot, but some.
This is still COLLEGE football. Yes, we need to maximize sources of revenue to compete. Bob Brodhead tried to do that back in the 80s and was pilloried because he wasn't one of the good ole boys.
But I do think some allowance should be made for students.
In the spirit of Big John McKeithen's statement--it's somewhat obscene to me that the fat cats who bring their fat cat guests so they can suck some corporate dick and put that big multi-million dollar deal together and have no real rooting interest in the game; get total precedence over the student for which the university was created in the first place.
Frick it, let's just call it professional football and make it the NFL.
