it was a solid PR move on his part to publicly apologize.

NO Tiger fan would've wanted something like this to happen, but he's young and it's a big lesson to learn. He'll be a better man for overcoming this.

More than JJ did. Just saying

JJ couldn't apologize publicly (not sure he owed it to anyone other than his parents, CLM and his teammates, frankly). I guarantee you no defense attorney would allow it. The prosecutor would use it against him.

Just sayin...

The sport would be very different in nature

I agree. I suppose by saying college football wouldn't exist without a fanbase I meant to say it would be so radically different from the product we enjoy today it would be almost unrecognizable.

The sport would exist but clearly not as the revenue engine it is today.

I think this suspension will bring him back down a few notches and back to reality.

He'll be even better for bama.

Glad he apologized. His obnoxious twats (tweets?) were over the top.

We need to get over this as soon as possible so we can prepare for the rest of the season....

From all of the dumb moves this season (ranging from the silly to the downright stupid) we have apologies from:

H. Badger
B. Wing
J. Dworaczyk (on behalf of the Unity Council)

IMO, it is a classic case of a fan juxtaposing their emotional investment made in support of their team with $ spent for tickets and somehow that entitles them to a phantom ownership interest, thusly becoming an "investor".
Personally, that kind of skewed logic escapes me.

It appears logic is just not your specialty. Here's a blurb on the Green Bay Packers.
quote:

Priced at $200 per share, fans bought 120,010 shares during the 17-week sale, which ended March 16, 1998. As of June 8, 2005, 112,015 people (representing 4,750,934 shares) can lay claim to a franchise ownership interest.

And that's a professional, paid team. Who exactly do you think 'owns' an amateur sport? LSU has a football team due to its support. If someone tested positive from the swim team, would anyone ever know? Or care? Fans can run off a coach, by putting pressure on the decision makers. But even they are not considered the owners because they are appointed to that position. So I have no idea who you would remotely conside the owner of our team would be, other than those who pay for it.

The LSU Athletic Department is the owner, not the fans and LSU Athletic Department does not sell ownership interest in the team.

Weak argument bringing professional sports into the discussion. You do realize that ownership interest is being conferred upon the investors who purchased shares of the Packers. The donation you made to TAF is a gift and confers no ownership interest to the you, the Donor. No matter how you slice it, fans do not own the LSU Football Team, they support it but do not own any part of it. Once again I stand by

ETA: Like Herman Cain likes to say "It's apples and oranges."
