I'd love to see one example of what you just described.

Not playing TE and coaching it = not uncommon at all

hire him for his ties, Two pronged attack on Florida W/ billy gonzalez. Let him teach TEs to block BG can teach them to catch A la TE CORNELIUS INGRAM- Saw action in 29 games with seven starts and had 888 yards receiving on 64 catches and eight touchdowns. Named 2007 second-team All-SEC and chosen as a candidate for the John Mackey Award, which is presented to the nation’s best tight end. i think it's a good move, what say you?

I think tons of Ranters here understand and agree with your point. The reason posts like this(not you, NOSA) even exist is simple. It's all they know.

These yahoos set a "bar" up so high, knowing damn well the chance of hiring a coach w/those credentials just gives them another thing to bitch about (and then, bitch about it and attack others throughout the thread after their posts). Especially when it comes to the 2010 season, in which nothing has happened yet. But they just "know" it all in advance, based on what happened in previous seasons. Sad, but true.

When Chris Garrett tried to get an offer from Bama Applewhite told him he wasn't SEC QB material. I bet Garrett just would love to take instructions from Applewhite.

That's a funny thought. I had forgotten all about that!

We can just give up on the QB coach thing. It's just not happening.

I think Crowton is cockblocking us getting a QB coach, 'cause he's got it covered.

When Muschamp was hired from Valdosta State nobody heard of him, and Dooley was brought in he was a coaching unknown with his Daddy's name. You critical jerks know NOTHING about evaluating coaches.

The biggest thing w/ this hire is knowledge of the position....obviously

BUT......a great recruiter is a MUST

This guy fits that mold....it seems

Whats' a former offensive lineman know about teaching TE's to run routes and catch passes?

the better question is whats a tiger band alumnus know about football? tight ends are blockers first and that's what this team needs before anything else. we have more than one coach already that can teach receivers and route running. our biggest problem with the '09 team was a lack of adequate blocking on the line of scrimmage. the tight end plays on the line of scrimmage.
