A couple mates and I will be traveling to America and will be going to a tigers football game. We will be going to the Louisiana tech game at tiger stadium!
Was just wondering what everyone usually does before and after the game?
I've heard of tailgating but not 100% sure of what it is

thanks

I like how you included "mate" in the first sentence to further make yourself look Australian.

I'm kidding. Glad you get to watch us beat the brakes off tech.

It'll be a night game so you picked a fun one.

Are you staying in Baton Rouge?

Get out to campus, just anywhere really, find a parking spot (heed the no parking signs. You'll get towed quickly) and walk around. If you're using uber or something like that, that's good. Just plan ahead. Traffic gets insane on game days.

Visit tailgates, people's set ups and ask what are they cooking. You won't be turned away. You'll be fed and given drinks too.

Tell them where you're from and most Tiger fans are welcoming. Just don't wear any Bama gear.

I'll be at that game as well, so maybe I'll bump into your group!

Go see Mike the Tiger in his house and walk around campus really. Just enjoy yourselves.

The team and the band comes down what we call a hill roughly 2 hours prior to kickoff so people line up for that. You should write that down and make sure you watch it. It's awesome.

Welcome!

Are you the same Australian that comes to LSU every year, or is there just a new one every year?

Few things ill suggest after visiting a few years ago. We were lucky enough to be there for a 6pm game so I guess game time will depend on your experience.
We arrived the day before and had a visit around campus when there was no one there. Visit Mike the tigers Penthouse and the LSU bookstore for merchandise. Then I would recommend heading over to Walmart and buying an esky on wheels and fill it up with a shite load of alcohol to wheel around on game day.

On game day I would suggest going to Chimes (a pub next to campus) before heading over to the tailgate. Tailgating is like a pre game festival which is an awesome experience and LSU was by far the best I experienced over there. As for which tailgates to visit I'm sure a few legends on here will offer you and your mates some great southern hospitality.

After the game there's a fair few bars within walking distance to the stadium. Maybe list your age group for recommendations on which ones would be best.

Also I would suggest taking a flask of some sort of alcohol in as they do not serve inside college stadiums so it can be a pretty sobering 3 hours if you aren't prepared.

Must do:

- If you are coming down a few days in advance, spend a night in New Orleans (assuming you've never been)

- arrive on campus early Saturday. If it's a 6:00 game, be on campus no later than 9.

- Chimes is great, but don't eat there on a game day. You will have plenty of cooked meals to eat at tailgates if you do it right. You should eat Chimes one of the days though.

- Go by Mikes cage.

- Players walk down victory hill

- Band marching down victory hill.

Outside of that, spend the entire day walking around and soaking it all in. If you tell people your story you will be treated like a king, with all the food and drinks you could imagine.
