There has been some criticism of Canada and the offense not working on the Passing game against Ole Miss but after watching the replay I think it's exactly the opposite. Going back to his time at LSU Saban's achilles heel in his attacking, blitzing, pressure defense has been the short passing game to the backs and tight ends when he brings his patented 3rd down blitzes. If we have any chance of pulling the upset next Saturday, I think the swing pass or the wheel route to both Williams and Guice will be critical. May need 6-8 of those completions and probably most on 3rd and medium when Saban/Pruett dials up a blitz. I believe both of our backs can beat their Linebackers in a one on one open field situation to pickup 6-7 yards if not more. The best thing about it is that pass is probably one of Etling's strengths and Williams may have some of the best hands on the team.

I agree. Aranda also has the D playing well. I hope we can keep these guys next year.

It's intriguing to think about what he could do with a talented passer like Brennan or a DT like Nowell. Last week's game plan was on-point.

Hard to have a great QB with LSU'S offense line. I would like to a watch Hurt from bama to play with LSU line!

I think we did exactly what we wanted, I think Canada held back, no doing more than was needed to win, saving some surprises for 9 days from now

Canada has his eyes set on HC. I think that's where the tension arises between him and CEO. Canada might be coming for his job. If Canada can survive not getting fired by team JA/EO, then he's at least in contention for a promotion at LSU

Aranda wants to go to the NFL. We might get lucky and keep him one or two more seasons.

If we make most of our passes within 5 yards of the LOS their safeties and corners will cheat up. You have to either...

A. throw the ball downfield to stretch their defense or
B. spread their defense with formations

I haven't seen us utilize B yet and I doubt Etling will have time to do A.

The passing game was left out at Ole Miss for a purpose.
The key to winning that game was to CONTROL THE BALL, CONTROL TIME OF POSSESSION and to KEEP PATTERSON sitting on the sidelines.

Game Won !
