Thoughts on Offensive Line

What is LSU's overall rating for their offensive line this season in boards opinion?
I rate them a C-/D+ and if JD5 was not so god damn good this team is one of the most sacked in NCAA granted we were ranked 54th with 22 total sacks.
I believe this is an area LSU needs their biggest improvement on offensive going into next season besides possibly a QB from the transfer portal.

You are categorically wrong.
Pulled this straight out of your backside….
That oline unit is actually performing quite well and gelled throughout the season.

I'm a little more generous. I think the OL looked great - at times. Overall, I think a B-/C+ is probably warranted. My grading is a little tempered by the fact they the group is relatively young, with the starters (I believe) all having eligibility left, if they choose.
You're right, though, JD5 made them look better than they played down the stretch.
Well, replacing a Heisman QB isn't exactly the easiest thing to do in CFB. We just assume LSU will have great receivers and RBs, so the OL is obvious. However, we used to think that about DBs.

This’ll be a fun thread
FWIW, I think they’re in A-/B+ territory. Give ‘em that Joe Moore, Cubelic.

Young bucks at a solid B and will improve as a unit.

I think the knock on them is the sacks and there were a couple of short yardage situations they just didn't come through.

Meh. Sacks will happen as a QB gets focused on progressions and JD improved on that as the season wore on. Pocket time = sack opportunity.
You’re more knowledgeable than the average Bear on oline, so I know your perspective is good.

I appreciate your perspective, as well, Charles.

Besides the defense this season, I felt that was the biggest struggle in the FSU game and it costed them at times against Bama, Ole Miss, and Mizzou especially. JD5 was able to overcome it in the Mizzou game and Ole Miss and possibly could have in the Bama game if not for the defense.

I'd give them a solid A overall. I started really paying attention to them and those boys are some maulers.

Alright, I guess I gotta rewatch games.

The O-Line is without a doubt B+ to A-. Probably the best unit of the team.

Are the QBs a "unit"? Are the WRs a "unit"?
I mean, come on - the OL played very well at times, but this team is .500 or worse without JD5, Nabers and Thomas.

I really believe this oline wouldn't look as good if we didn't have a mobile QB. JD is that guy.

Just a horrible take. They’re one of 12 semi finalists for the Joe Moore award. Probably the best line in the SEC.

How can you consistently watch football and still understand so little about the game?

Ill give them a B, I'm interested for next year, I'm ready to see Chester and Heard starting on that line, ton of talent

I’d say B- They gave up too many sacks and many were prevented by crazy legs. My biggest knock was goal line stands and short yardage needs. Granted some play calling could be to blame but they were very good not great, yet. Next year will be the year. I see 2 thousand yard rushers next year.
