This really isn’t a Nuss vs JD issue

It could be Walker vs JD, it doesn’t matter. This issue is that JD has not been able to spread the field vertically (exception Florida game). The majority of his passes are comeback routes, wheel routes to TE and RB, and the occasional deep shot that is either too late on the release or overthrown. I understand that he protects the football, but we will not be able to get over an 8-9 win hump if we cannot spread the field vertically.

It was not hard to see towards the end of the year, mediocre teams had figured out how to beat him. Drop 7-8, rush 3 with a spy. He does not have the confidence, or ability to beat a zone that way. Nussmeier seems to, and Howard should. Like most fans, I am appreciative of what JD did for us this year, but we cannot continuously try to nickel and dime defenses when our WR is our most talented offensive group.

Anyone that watched the SEC championship, whether we were down so much or not, that claims the WR did not look more enthusiastic, and make better plays, and our running game open up, is lying to themselves. If we cannot throw the ball more than 10-15 yards we are back to where we were with Les. Sorry I’m not sorry.

I think there is honestly comfort in knowing that JD will not change. Has been like this for 4 years and has shown no signs that he isn't "one-read" or trusts his arm / receivers. There is very hard ceiling with him, and it might be 10 wins which there is nothing wrong with, but it certainly stops there.

Well said. The thing that made Joey B great is he trusted the guys he was throwing to and they trusted him to get them the ball. JD does not have the trust.

From listening to the WR interviews, they have that same confidence in Nuss.
